    Martha E. Buchanan, age 88 of Mountain City, Route 3, Doe Valley community, died in Johnson City Memorial Hospital Saturday at 2:30 p.m. after a short illness. She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Alfred and Susan Morley Stout and widow of the late Joseph M. Buchanan. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
    Survivors include one son, Donley Buchanan, Phoenixville, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Myra A. Baird, and Miss Deanie Buchanan, both of Mountain City; one step-daughter, Alice Propst, Morgantown, W.Va.; one brother, Stacy Stout, Mountain City; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were conducted from the Doe Valley Baptist Church Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Wilson and Rev. Blaine Eggers officiating. Burial was in Buchanan cemetery.

    In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert C. Wallace, who passed away on September 23, 2008; sister Shirley Smith; brothers, Bill Stout, Carl Stout, Charles Stout and Homer Stout.

    Mary loved collecting what-nots and things, enjoyed raising flowers and especially loved her family. She was a member of Mountain City Church of Christ.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her sons Bob Wallace and wife Sharon of Mountain City, TN and Tony Wallace and wife Brenda of Maryville, TN; grandchildren Brad, Robby, Andy and Roman Wallace and Amy Wallace Stover; nine great grandchildren; sisters Venia Stout and Josephine Laing; brother, Richard Stout, and several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 from Mountain City Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Chuck Stewart and Tom Reece to officiate. Graveside service and burial will follow at Reece Memorial Cemetery.

    Venia was a lifelong resident of Johnson County and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Richard Stout and wife Sharon of Elizabethton, TN; sister, Josephine Laing and husband Larry of Todd, NC and many nieces, nephews and friends.

    There will be a graveside service held at Reece Memorial Cemetery, 187 Liberty Church Rd. at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 24, 2019 with Richard Stout and Gale Hartley officiating and special music by John Brookshire. Pallbearers will be Carl Stout, Terry Stout, David Stout, Wayne Davis, Rick Blackburn and Roby Phillippi. Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and employees at Nightline Plant.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Bobby Joe Buchanan; brothers, Walt, Joe, Alvin, John, and Tom Buchanan; and sisters, Betty Buchanan and Linda Arnold.

    Raymond dearly loved his family, especially his children. He retired from Summers-Taylor; a job he truly enjoyed. He loved driving his cement truck.

    Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Linda Gay Buchanan; daughter, Amanda Potter (Bryan); son, Steven Buchanan (Joy); granddaughters, Haley and Kristen Santucci; sisters, Margie Bryant of Aberdeen, North Carolina and Margret Potter of Roseburg, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

    A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Moveta K. Baird, Barlow age 79, of 5787 Highway 67 West, Mountain City, Tennessee went to be with her Lord on Friday February 22, 2019 at her residence. Moveta was born on June 13, 1939, in Mountain City, TN to the late Byron Baird and Myra Buchannan Baird. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Earnest Gibb Barlow, and sisters Marilyn Vaught, Marietta Forrester, and brothers, Charles Jody Baird, and Denver Baird. She Loved Witnessing for the Lord, singing with her nursing home ministry, flower gardening, music.

    She is survived by 2 sons Darryl Barlow and wife Denise, Mountain City, TN

    Her grandson who was like her son B.J. Barlow of the home.

    Sister Marlene Dodgion, Mtn City, TN.

    Brother Sonny Baird, Mtn City, TN.

    Granddaughter, Tara Barlow, Mtn City, TN.

    Great Grandchildren Chasity and Clayton Osborne.

    Special friends Kim Jennings, Bob Forrester, Sue Baird, Joyce Gregg, and the residence and staff of Mountain City Care Center.

    Funeral Services for Moveta Barlow will be conducted at 7pm on Monday February 25, 2019, in the Bethany Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5pm – 7pm prior to the funeral service. Gale Hartley will officiate the services.

    Graveside Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday February 26, 2019 in the Sunset Memorial Park.

    Honorary Pallbearers: John Brookshire, Darrell Junge, David Barrett, Kenny Gregg, John Davis, and Burl Johnson.
