    Carma Collins - ELIZABETHTON
    Carma Collins, age 100, a wonderful mother, formerly of Blue Springs Community, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from Hermitage Health Center, Elizabethton, following an extended illness.

    Mrs. Collins was a Carter County native, born to the late Isaac and Doshia Bowers Williams. She was a charter member of Nidiffer's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Collins was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard C. Collins; one sister: Lola Oliver; and one brother: Grover Williams.

    Survivors include five daughters and two sons-in-law: Burna Pierce, Lola Bowers, Novella Heaton, all of Elizabethton, Myrtle and Ken Gilliam, Kingston, TN, Betty and Andy Edwards, Elizabethton; five sons and two daughters-in-law: Willard G. Collins, Arthur and Christine Collins, Earl R. and Katherine Collins, Luther L. Collins, Bobby D. Collins, all of Elizabethton; thirteen grandchildren: Maggie Nidiffer, Joann Reed, Sandy Huskins, Teresa Hampton, Teddy Collins, Steven Heaton, Bobby Collins, Jackie Collins, Lawrence Pierce, Michael Collins, all of Elizabethton, Patti Kerkendall, Atlanta, GA, Missy Lane, Harriman, TN, Jennifer Raymer, Kingston, TN; twenty-one great-grandchildren: Brent Huskins, Lacey Huskins, Chelsie Huffman, Hollie Huffman, Elizabeth Davis, Jon Hampton, Jeff Pierce, Greg Pierce, Dustin Collins, Davey Jack Collins, Jacklyn Collins, Macey Collins, Brandon Collins, Bryant Collins, Colby Raymer, Dawson Lane, Corey Raymer, Kailey Lane, Tammy Blevins, Robin Carpenter, Jill Hart; three great-great-grandchildren: Steven Oliver, Michael Carpenter and Jackson Davis.     The Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Collins will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 28, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev. Clate Briggs and Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Music will be under the direction of J.C. and Friends.

    The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter, Novella Heaton, 145 Southgate Dr., Elizabethton, at other times.

    The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 29, in Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lawrence Pierce, Steve Heaton, Michael Collins, Teddy Collins, Bobby Collins and Jackie Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Link Nidiffer, Jay Nidiffer, Jack Perkins, Mack Collins, Jack Collins, Donald Collins, James Williams, Wendell Williams, David Lane, Jamie Raymer, Joe and Brenda Collins, the staff and employees of Hermitage Health Center, members of Nidiffer's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Jean Collins, Loretta Peters, Erma Broyles, Joann Dean, Jeanette Bradshaw, Dr. Robert Walter and Dr. Stanley Vermillion.

    A special "thank you" is extended to Hope Street, Braiden Smith and Robert Duggen for all their love and care extended to Mrs. Collins.

    ELIZABETHTON — Willard G. "Billy" Collins, 85, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.

    He was the son of the late Maynard and Carmie Collins and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Collins.

    Mr. Collins was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Army. He was a former employee of Bemberg, North American Rayon Corporation and was retired from American Water Heater. He was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church. Mr. Collins enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved baseball.

    He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie Collins and his wife, Tami, Bobby L. Collins and his wife, Connie; two granddaughters, Jacquelyn Collins, Macy Collins; two great-granddaughters, Logan Collins, Katlyn Becht; a great-grandson, Tyler Dugger; five grandsons, Davey Collins, Dustin Collins and his wife, Lindsey, Brandon Collins, Bryant Collins and Bud Hicks; five sisters, Betty Edwards and her husband, Andy, Novella Heaton, Lola Bowers, Burnie Pierce, all of Elizabethton, Myrtle (Tootsie) Gilliam and her husband, Ken, Harriman, TN; three brothers, Arthur Collins, Luther Collins, Bobby D. Collins, all of Elizabethton; a special friend, Loretta Wilson and her children, Lisa Wilson, Tammy Carpenter, Steven Wilson, all of Elizabethton; other special friends, Brittany, Nikki, Arie and Heather. Seven nieces, four nephews, and the mother of his children, Lucille Ownby, Elizabethton, also survive.

    The funeral service for Mr. Collins will be conducted on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bobby Stout and Dr. William Duncan officiating. Music will be under the direction of the New Liberty Baptist Church Quartet.

    The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday prior to the service and at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Connie Collins, 324 Pine Hill Road, at other times.

    The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jackie Collins, Bobby Lynn Collins, Davey Collins, Dustin Collins, Brandon Collins, Bryant Collins, Bud Hicks and Joseph Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Hardin, Thurman Caldwell, Doug Tolley, Andy White, Van Fair, Jess Fair, Joe Carpenter and Rick Williams. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #49. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 PM Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.

    The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Hermitage Health Care Center and the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital for all the love and care shown to Mr. Collins and the family.

    Earl Ray Collins, 79, 167 Sunrise Drive, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, January 30, 2010, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Maynard R. and Carma Williams Collins. Mr. Collins was a retired employee of Mapes Piano String Company after 50 years of service. He was an active member of Hunter United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Unaka Rod & Gun Club. His hobbies were woodworking, gardening and bird watching. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

    Survivors include his wife of fifty six years: Kathryn Nidiffer Collins. Five Sisters: Bernie Pierce, Lola Bowers, Novella Heaton and Betty Edwards and husband Andy all of Elizabethton and Myrtle Gillian and husband Ken, Kingston, Tenn. Four Brothers: Willard, Arthur, Luther and Bob Collins, all of Elizabethton. Sisters and Brothers-in-law: Jay & Katie Nidiffer, Jack & Joann Perkins, and Link & Carolyn Nidiffer of Elizabethton. Special cousin: Jan Showalter of Johnson City. Several nieces & nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Hunter United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Mathess officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by David Estep, Pianist, Marilyn Bowers, Organist and Katrina Nidiffer, Soloist. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the church at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday will be: C. H. Taylor, Lee Gay, Bill Cline, Emerson Smith, Dean Boone, Paul Waters, Chris Guy, Jimmy Bowling and Clarence Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be: Tony Bowers, Roger Hamm, Dwight Reece, Charlie Jones, Hugh Buckles and his church family. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion & Tn. National Guard.     ELIZABETHTON - On Monday, December 23, 2019, Lola Bowers, age 84, of Elizabethton, Tennessee entered home to be with her Lord and Savior.

    Lola was born on March 8, 1935 to the late Maynard and Carma Collins. She spent most of her career working at Citizen's Bank where she met and became friends with many in the community. She was a devoted member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and loved her church family very much. Lola was married to the late John F. Bowers. They spent their lives together making wonderful memories by traveling the country, camping and taking care of each other.

    Many that knew Lola affectionately called her "Dodo". She was a caring and fun loving sister, aunt and friend. Dodo wanted those around her to love Jesus Christ, be happy and live life to the fullest.

    Lola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Burna Pierce, Myrtle Gilliam and Novella Heaton; and her brothers, Earl Collins, Arthur Collins and Willard Collins.

    She is survived by her sister, Betty Edwards; two brothers, Bob Collins and Luther Collins; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue and Lloyd Lowe and brother-in-law, Ken Gilliam.

    A service to celebrate the life of Lola Bowers will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 28, 2019 in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Doug Hinshaw, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday or at the home of Lola Bowers at other times.

    The graveside service will follow in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery with Reverend Doug Hinshaw, officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her Caldwell Springs Church family, those who visited during her illness and the employees who worked with her at Citizens Bank.

    The family would like to especially thank Scarlett Murphy, Dawn Simpson, Caris Hospice, Dr. Vivian Clark and all of the others who care for Lola during her illness.

    She was a daughter of the late Maynard and Carma Williams Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Command Sgt. Major Samuel Heaton, Jr. U.S. Army Retired, two sisters, Burnia Pierce and Myrtle Gilliam and three brothers, Authur Collins, Willard "Billy" Collins and Earl R. Collins.

    Novella retired as an aide from Unaka Elementary School. She was a spunky military wife and a wonderful Christian mother and grandmother. She was a member of Nidiffer Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where she sang in the quartet. Novella enjoyed sewing and making quilts and spending time with her family. She was known for treating people well and with respect.

    A service to celebrate the life of Novella C. Heaton will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 22, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Nick Colbaugh officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the funeral service in the chapel.

    The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service at Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Buckles, Dallas Williams, Rodney Campbell, Bill Hamilton and Con Nave.

    Myrtle G. Collins Gilliam was born on January 6, 1945 in Elizabethton, Tenn.
    Myrtle, 73, passed this world into the waiting arms of Jesus on June 11, 2018. She will fondly be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother, doting grandmother and faithful sister and friend.
    Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Carma Collins; brothers, Willard, Earl and Arthur Collins; and sister, Bernice Pierce.
    Myrtle is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ken Gilliam; her daughters, Melissa (David) Lane and Jennifer (Jamie) Raymer; and six grandchildren, Dawson and Kailey Lane, Colby, Corey, Mackenzie and Brodie Raymer. Surviving also are her brothers, Bob and Luther Collins, and sisters, Betty (Andy) Edwards, Lola Bowers and Novella Heaton, all of Elizabethton, Tenn. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Jim) Blalock and Carolyn (Jeff) Hamilton, and brother-in-law, Ron (Sue) Gilliam, all of Gate City, Va. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
    Myrtle lived primarily in Elizabethton until 1984 when she relocated to Roane County with her family. Her first job was working for the FBI in Washington, DC. Later she went to work for Great Lakes Research in Elizabethton where she met Ken, the love of her life. While in Roane County she worked for Linda Raby, CPA and finished her career with Daniels, Uselton and Clay, CPA in Kingston. She retired in 2011.
    Myrtle was a member of Young's Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Kingston. The family expresses appreciation for the support of Pastor Rev. Dale Watson and the members of Young's Chapel. The family also gives thanks to Helen Lane for the many hours she sat with Myrtle during her illness and for caring love given by her dear friend, June Wilson. The family also appreciates the support from neighbors and friends for all they have done.
    Finally, the family wishes to acknowledge the nurses and staff with Covenant Hospice for the compassionate care they provided during the last difficult days. Also, the family is appreciative for the care and help furnished by friend and family physician, Dr. Rodney McMillin.
    The family will celebrate the life of Myrtle Gilliam by receiving of friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Fraker Funeral Home in Kingston. The service will follow at 5 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Dale Watson presiding with interment following the service at Lawnville Cemetery.
