    Notes:

    Irene Nave Moore, 92, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011. She was the daughter of the late William Austin Nave and Carrie Lee Treadway Nave and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Moses Moore, in 1980, and five sisters, Hallie Carden, Geneva E. Nave, Veona Carden, Hazel Pauline Bowers and Jeanette L. Elliott. Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and she loved to garden. She was a faithful member of Siam Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Moore is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Neisha Moore, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Sgt. Michael Hall and his wife, Michelle, and Hunter Moore; two great-grandchildren, Collin Hall and Autumn Hall; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Martin E. Nave and Kenneth H. and Jeanette Nave, Elizabethton.

    The funeral service for Mrs. Moore will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Jack Roddy and Rev. Adam Polk officiating. Music will be under the direction of Billy Anderson. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, and at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Neisha, 116 Bee Cliff Road, Elizabethton, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, in the Nave Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Howard Allen Carden, Troy Smith, E.A. Bowers, Doug Bailey, Andy Hood and David Nave. Ronnie Presnell will serve as honorary pallbearer.

    Martin E. Nave, 87, Elizabethton went home to be with his Lord at the residence of a daughter, Patty Tester with both daughters by his side, Saturday September 17, 2011.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late William Austin and Carrie Lee Treadway Nave.

    He was a retired employee of Inland Container.

    Mr. Nave served in the Army Air Corps during World War II serving in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines.

    He was a member of the Siam Baptist Church and the Mens Fellowship Sunday School Class. His hobby was Wood Crafts.

    Mr. Nave was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Cleo Hardin Nave, September 21, 1997, by a grandson John Martin Tester and six sisters.

    Survivors include Two daughters & Sons-In-Law: Carolyn Ann & Barry "Butch" Woodring and Patty Mae & L.C. Tester all of Elizabethton. One Grandson: Mickey Lee Woodring and wife Kim, Elizabethton. Two Great Grandchildren: Matthew Woodring and Rebecca Woodring. A Step-Grandson: Richard Tester, Elizabethton. Two Step-Granddaughters: Pamela & Ashley Tester, his step- Great Granddaughters: Sarajane and Mia Grace Tester. A Brother & sister-in-law: Kenneth "Howard" & Jeanette Nave, Elizabethton. Several Nieces & Nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Roddy and Pastor L.C. Tester officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hardin Family Cemetery. Music will be provided by Ashley & Pam Tester and Bill Anderson.

    Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday will be: Mickey Woodring, Matthew Woodring, Kevin Grindstaff, Kelly Grindstaff, Howell Carrico and Ricky Babb. Honorary Pallbearers will be his church family.

    The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Doug Bailey, Max VanHuss, Amedisys Hospice, His Caregivers, Sue Anne Hawkins, Edwin Talley, Terra Shade, Brenda Cooper and the staff of First Tennessee Agency on Aging. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion & Tennessee National Guard.

    Jeanette Louise Nave Elliott, 79, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday June 23, 2009, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William Austin and Carrie Lee Treadway Nave. She was a 1948 graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Elliott was a active member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Elliott's hobbies were gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting, fishing and bingo. She was a UT Football Fan, a lady Vol fan and also the Atlanta Braves.

    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters: Hallie Carden, Geneva Nave, Veona Carden and Pauline Bowers.

    Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Marvin Elliott; Two Daughters: Faye Brown, Queen Creek, Arizona, and Sheryl Long, Johnson City; A Step-Son: Dean Elliott, Corona, California; Four Grandchildren; Paul Travis Brown, Steven David Brown, Stacey Wright and Deon Davis; Three Great Grandchildren; Three Step-Grandchildren; One Sister: Irene Moore, Elizabethton; Two Brothers: Martin Nave and Kenneth Howard Nave, both of Elizabethton; Several Nieces & Nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:45 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell and Rev. Gary Edwards officiating.

    Interment will follow in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home at 1 p.m. Friday. Music will be provided by Rev. Ronnie Campbell. Active Pallbearers will be: Eugene Moore, Travis Brown, Deon Davis, Ray Bowers, Hunter Moore and David Asher. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jackie Elliott, Albert Harrison, Roy Carriger, Kenneth Nidiffer, Paul Benfield, Calvin Hardin, Eddie Sams and Glen Hardin.

    ELIZABETHTON - Donald B. Carden, age 76, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from his residence, following a brief illness.

    Donald was born in Carter County on January 11, 1941 to the late George and Veona Nave Carden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Carden; and one sister, Shirley Turner.

    Donald retired from Inland Container and was a member of Siam Baptist Church. He enjoyed walking at Wilbur Dam, golfing, gardening, spending time with his family and watching Tennessee Vols Sports.

    Those left to cherish his memory include three sisters, Wilma Sanders, of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Janice Holt and husband Larry, of Jonesborough, TN, and Joyce Taylor, of Lenoir, NC; two brothers, Earnest Carden and wife Etta, and Howard Carden, all of Elizabethton; eleven nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews, as well as several good friends and neighbors, also survive.

    A service to honor the life of Donald B. Carden will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Ray Colbaugh, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday, or at the residence at any time.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 12, 2017 in the Nave Cemetery, in the Siam Community of Elizabethton with Rev. Chris Hughes and Rev. Nick Colbaugh, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Turner, Timothy Turner, Keith Carden, Jason Taylor, Austin Canter, Dawson Boer, Adam Ashley, Justin Kirby and Phil Strickland. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Carden, Scott Carden, Eric Carden, Rick Church, Phil Nave, Harry Gahr, Barry Pope, and Arthur Nichols. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 AM on Friday.

    ELIZABETHTON - Earnest “Pig” Carden, age 76, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January, 11 2020 from Hermitage Health and Rehab surrounded by his family.

    Earnest was born in Carter County to the late George Carden and Veona Nave Carden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Raymond, Donald and Howard Carden and one sister, Shirley Carden Turner of Michigan.

    Earnest was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved listening to bluegrass music, attending the covered bridge festivals, hunting, fishing, camping at the lake and rooting for the Tennessee Vols and Hampton Bulldogs. He raised blue ribbon cantaloupe. He was a dedicated employee. He worked at North American Rayon Corporation for over 30 years until they closed. /he retired form Mapes Piano Strings with a decade of service. He did not fear hard work.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Etta Peters Carden; two daughters, Donna Carden and Lisa Ashley and husband Adam; four grandchildren, Brooklynn Ashley, Dawson Boer, Raegan Ashley and Brayden Ashley; three sisters, Wilma Sanders, of Edwardsburg, MI, Jan Holt and husband Larry and Joy Taylor, of Lenoir, NC. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    A service to honor the life of Earnest “Pig” Carden will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, January 13, 2020 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Nick Colbaugh and Shannon Sims, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Monday. The family requests that those attending wear Hampton Bulldog or UT Vols attire

    The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Nave Cemetery in the Siam Community. Active pallbearers will be Adam Ashley, Brayden Ashley, Dawson Boer, Tim Pierce, Aaron Pierce, Jerry Bowers, Eric Buckles, Phil Strickland, Austin Canter and Tyler Stansbury. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45AM. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott, Eric, Tony and Keith Carden, Kevin and Tim Turner, Dylan Cook, Jason Taylor, Buck Gentry, Phil Nave, Rick Church, Corey Pierce and Perry White.

Howard was born in Carter County to the late George and Veona Nave Carden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Campbell Carden; two brothers, Raymond Carden and Donald Carden; and one sister, Shirley Turner.

    Howard retired from Star Building Systems and had previously worked at North American Rayon Corporation for 16 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #360, loved to fish, garden and refinishing wood floors. Howard was of the Baptist faith.

    Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Anthony Dwayne Carden, of New Mexico and Ronald Keith Carden, of Elizabethton; one daughter, Robin Michelle Carden Strickland, of Concord, NC; five grandchildren, Amber, Austin, Autumn, Abigail and Brentley; three sisters, Wilma Sanders, of Michigan, Janice Holt, of Johnson City and Joyce Taylor, of Lenoir, NC; and one brother, Ernest Carden, of Elizabethton.

    A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Howard "Worm" Carden will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Moose Lodge #630, 288 Lovers Lane, Elizabethton, Tennessee with friends and family giving open eulogies.
