    Inez Treadway Metcalf, age 96, of Flag Pond, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Flag Pond and the daughter of the late Carver and Matilda Hardin Treadway.
    Inez worked as a painter for Blue Ridge Pottery in her younger years. She retired from Morrill Motors after twenty-six years of service. Inez enjoyed cooking for family, working on the farm and in the Apple Orchard. She was a lifetime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zade Metcalf in 2005 and all her brothers and sisters.
    Inez was a precious mother to her three daughters: Yuvonda (Howard) Jenkins, Sharon (Roger) Fender, and Debbie (Jerry) Shelton; a loving grandmother to her grandchildren: Joey Jenkins, Janet (Rodney) Jenkins Shelton, Kimberly (Alan) Fender Wyatt, and Kelly (Joey) Shelton Willis; her great grandchildren: Avery, Bailey, Zade, Brooklyn, Emily, and Mason; her honorary grandson, Elijah; several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 Pm Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Flag Pond. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Shelton, Rev. Danny Jenkins, and Rev. Josh Vestal officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Committal service will follow in the State Line Cemetery.

    HULL – John Rufe Treadway, 78, died Sunday, October 18, 2009, at his residence.
    Born in Unicoi, Tenn., on June 27, 1931, he was the son of the late Carter Vance and Tilda Hardin Treadway. He was a retired automobile mechanic and also worked for the highway department. He was of the Holiness denomination. Mr. Treadway was preceded in death by six brothers; and one sister.
    Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Ballew Treadway, Hull; sons, Carver Vance and John W. Treadway; daughters, Eula Mae Blankenship and Elaine Briggs, both of Flag Pond, Tenn., Mary E. Roadenberry, and Shirley Cooper; stepdaughters, Charlotte Evans and Rhonda Knapp, both of Elberton, Lisa Mize, Athens, and Tammy Owens, Commerce; stepsons, Keith Epps, Danielsville, and Kevin Epps, Hoschton; sisters, Evelyn Miller, North Carolina, and Inez Metcalf, Flag Pond, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 20, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. David Strickland and Don Nestor officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowman.

    Gaye Treadway, 55, of Ridge Cove Road, Enka, N.C. died Friday, March 31, 1989 in Asheville, N.C. Veteran Administration Medical Center.
    A native of Unicoi County, Tennessee, he had lived in North Carolina for 20 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a former employee of Beacon Manufacturing Company. He belonged to Shady Grove Baptist Church in Flag Pond, Tennessee and Flag Pond Masonic Lodge No. 408 F&AM.
    He was survived by five brothers, Jack and Leonard Treadway of Flag Pond, Tennessee, Rufe Treadway of Athens, Georgia, Charles Treadway of Enka, N.C. and Lewis Treadway of Erwin, Tennessee; and three sisters, Inez Metcalf of Flag Pond, Tennessee, Ester Moore and Evelyn Miller of Arden, N.C.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, 1989 in Ledford Funeral Home chapel in Erwin, Tennesse with the Revs. Jerry Shelton and Jerry Kent officiating. Members of Flag Pond Masonic Lodge # 408 F&AM conducted masonic rites at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 1989 at the funeral home. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Erwin, Tennessee.

    Charles Reece Treadway, 63, of 427 Reeves Cove Road, Candler, N.C. died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at his home.A native of Flag Pond, Tennessee, Mr. Treadway was a son of the late Carver and Matilda Treadway. He will be reunited with his loving wife of 40 years, Ruth, who died in 2006.Mr. Treadway graduated from Unicoi County High School, in Tennessee. He formerly worked at the American Enka Plant, then with Moore's Building Supplies Company for 33 years and more recently with Jenning's Building Supplies Company. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He faithfully attended New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. He was formerly active with the Hominy Valley Recreation League for over 20 years.He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and devoted husband. He is survived by his daughter, Lee Anne Tucker and husband, Austin, of Candler, N.C.; sons, Randy Treadway and wife, Toyna, of Paintsville, Kentucky, and Jody Treadway and wife, Lisa,of Candler, N.C.; sisters, Evelyn Miller of Arden, N.C. and Inez Metcalf of Flag Pond, Tennessee; brother, John Rufe Treadway and wife, Marilyn, of Hull, Georgia; amd two grandsons, Tyler and Jake Treadway.The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Houston officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by the Buncombe County Veteran's Council.
