    SHADY VALLEY, Tenn. Janice J. Blevins, age 75, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at her residence. She was a life long resident of Shady Valley and was a daughter of the late Fred and Sallie Hutchinson. She was a retired assistant postmaster from the U.S. Postal Service in Shady Valley and was a member of the Laurel Avenue Church of Christ in Damascus, Va. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Hutchinson and two sisters, Betty Henry and Aileen Eller. She is survived by her husband, Ned Blevins; one daughter, Dena Bass and her husband, Jim, of Woodstock, Ga.; one son, Dirk Blevins and his wife, Pam, of Arlington, Tenn.; one sister, Ann Cross and her husband, Bob, of Bristol, Tenn.; one brother, Harold Hutchinson of Shady Valley; six grandchildren, Derrick Bass, Courtney Bass, Camille Bass, Rachel Blevins, Abby Blevins, and Ben Blevins; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Mr. Wayne Baker and Mr. Tracy Dugger, ministers officiating. The committal service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Blevins Cemetery in Shady Valley. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Blevins, Perry Blevins, Keenan Blevins, Nicky Dugger, Bill Manuel, Dan Manuel, Derrick Bass, and Ben Blevins.

    Harold Edward Hutchinson, age 85, of Shady Valley, TN; passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at his home. He was born on June 1, 1937 in Shady Valley to the late Fred C. Hutchinson and Sallie Watson Hutchinson. In addition to his parents Harold was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Henry, Aileen Eller, Janice Blevins and Ann Cross; brother, Johnny Hutchinson.

    Harold was a simple man for those who knew him. He was a quiet easy going fellow. Harold worked many years in communications with the Telephone Company. Through the years he enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing and boating. He was a United States Air Force Veteran.

    Harold is survived by his brother-in-law, Ned Blevins, several nieces and nephews, best friends, Bill Wallace and Judy Watson.

    Graveside service for Harold will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 21, 2022 from Blevins Cemetery with Tom Reece speaking and Military Honors by Johnson County Honor Guard.
