Lucille Evelyn Cox Heaton, 94, of Elizabethton, Tenn., started singing in God’s heavenly choir October 11, 2021. She was born in Knoxville, Tenn., March 22, 1927 to the late Ethridge Cox and Lillie Elrod Cox. After marrying the love of her life, she made Elizabethton her treasured home and was so grateful for all God blessed her with in this life. Her secret to joy: she loved Jesus, her family, friends, making flowers bloom, painting, this amazing America, QVC and chocolate every day!
She was the epitome of a lady, yet had that mischievous gleam in her eye. Lucy was eccentric, funny, opinionated, gutsy, energetic and a true beauty inside and out. She trusted Jesus but kept a .22 hanging on her bedpost along with her dream catcher. Lucy was an artist in all she did; a flair for drama and oh how she could wear a hat!
If you were her friend, it was forever. If you were her family, you better not cross them.
She loved to sing, especially with her friends in the choir at First Baptist Church, who she lovingly referred to as “The Joyful Sinners” always with a little grin and shrug of her shoulders in good humor.
Lucy had a servant-heart that gave generously. PTA, Girl Scouts, helping raise money for causes dear to her heart. For years she shopped for people at Ivy Hall and drove the “Meals on Wheels“ van.
She cherished the privilege of being part of the live drama “Liberty” that commemorated the pioneers of this area. Lucy enjoyed every minute of the 21 years with it.
She longed to see those who waited for her in the presence of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Claude Cox and Dean Cox; sister, Barbara Livesay; loving husband, Stanley Heaton; son, Dennis Heaton; and plus loads of kith and kin.
Lucy’s family left here that miss her: Jana Rasnick and husband Bobby; Deborah Timko and husband Barry; Betty Lipscomb, Pam Heaton; grandchildren, Mackenzie Fugett and Brad, Meghan Heaton, Rachel Gregory and Paul, Jennifer Buck and Eric, Matthew Rasnick and Jessee, Robyn Fuder and David, Jeremiah Douglas, Blair Blycker and Jonathan, Ammi Hepler and Andy, Lori Lipscomb and Andy, Rebecca Rudd and Billy; sisters, Shirley Rucker and Willard, Carol Tolliver and Harold; brother, Roger Cox; and oodles of great-grandchildren, cousins and dear friends.
To celebrate our precious Lucy, there will be a private graveside service Saturday, October 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Jana Denise Heaton Rasnick, 66, Elizabethton, transitioned from this earthly shell to a new body in the presence of our Lord on November 2, 2021. She was born August 20, 1955 in Pittsburg, Pa., to the late Stanley Heaton and Lucille Cox Heaton.
A Yankee by birth and Southern by the Grace of God! Jana embodied a big heart, a brilliant mind, as well as being a true beauty inside and out! She could gut a deer, ride a horse, shoot a rifle without a hair out of place or a smudge on her frock! Just like her mother… she was an amazing lady!
Audaciously stubborn and always loyal she could make you laugh or take you out with a simple look. Her laugh was contagious and like none other.
She had a fierce love for her family… protecting them like a mama bear. And oh how she loved her grand-babies! Her second love aside from her family was football! She was forever a Cyclone at heart…I’m sure she’s cheering on the Vols from above!
In addition to her parents, she was reunited with her brother, Dennis Heaton, as they waited for her in heaven.
Her family left here that will miss her every day: her loving husband of 43 years, Bobby Rasnick; Children: Jennifer Buck and husband Eric; Matthew Rasnick; Stephanie Rasnick Hopton and Brad; Kristen Rasnick Jones and Mike; sisters: Betty Lipscomb; Deborah Timko and Barry; loads of sister and brothers-in-law and oodles of kith and kin. Grandchildren: Jaryn Gouge, Levi Buck, Logan Buck; Easton Rasnick and Sawyer Rasnick; Carley Hopton, Ansley Hopton, Braden Hopton; Bethany Hyatt and Ethan Hyatt. A special niece: Ammi Hepler. A dear friend: Trish Graybeal.

Active pallbearers will be Eric Buck, Matthew Rasnick, Jaryn Gouge, Tucker Shoun, Bucky Harris and David Yates. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later time. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of services.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors in the ICU at Greeneville Community Hospital East for the exceptional care and compassion given to Jana and her family.
