    Notes:

Bill E. Hampton, 87, of Elizabethton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 26, 2023, after a lingering illness. He was the son of the late Dewey G and Beulah Kinley Hampton. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Dorothy Dykes Buckles; a sister, Ruth Street; by his very special friends of 60 plus years, A.J. and Peggy Harvey Street; and by Janane Finney, who was a special friend to Bill and Sharron. Bill was a homebuilder for over 50 years. He loved his chosen profession. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and attended regularly until his health declined. His hobbies included water sports, he was an excellent water skier; he and Sharron always kept a pleasure boat their entire married life. He and his lake buddies built the first ski jump on Watauga Lake and Bill was the first to cross the ski jump successfully. He also loved drag racing and after their retirement, they enjoyed traveling including a trip to the Bahamas. Bill and Sharron were also members of the Johnson City Citizens Band Club, where Bill was voted member of the year and was instrumental in acquiring the land on which the building was constructed and the club was a very family oriented club house. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former Sharron Lynn Buckles Hampton, whom he met at the Johnson City Roller Skating Rink, when she was still in high school and was the love of his life. Also, his first cousin, whom he thought of as a sister and was always there for Bill and Sharron whenever she was needed, Vella Chambers Tester; and Kathy Clawson, who was always so dear to them and ready to help in any way she could. Two nieces, Carolyn Street Cannon and her husband James “Butch” Cannon and Kathern Greene and her husband Stanley Greene; and one nephew, Danny Street and his wife Teresa. A special thanks to Dr. Sarah Hammonds for her outstanding care shown to both Bill and Sharron, Amedysis Home Health Care, especially Megan, and Signature Health Care Center, especially Alex Keyes, members of Valley Forge Christian Church, neighbors and friends whom showed so much love, prayers and compassion to Bill during his illness and Sharron during this difficult time.
