John R. Holt, 22 Dies Of Injuries From Car Wreck

John R. Holt, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herschel P. Hold, of Milligan College Community died at St. Elizabeth's Hospital early Saturday morning after suffering severe injuries when the car in which he was riding ran off the Fish Spring Butler Highway and turned over.

The accident occurred about 4 a.m. and you Holt and a companion Frank Cook, lay for about two hours in the wreckage before help reached them according to Cook's statement. Cook escaped with some slight scratches but suffered severely from shock.

At length a driver passing by noticed the wreckage and called Sheriff Tom Nave, who summoned an ambulance from the Tetrick Funeral Home. The ambulance reached the scene first and was driving away when Deputies Doc Nave and Kirk Simerly reached there.

"The car evidently ran off the highway because of the heavy fog which was still dense when we arrived at the scene," said Glenn W. Tetrick of the funeral home. "Young Hold suffered a broken collar bone and crushed chest," Mr. Tetrick continued, "and died soon after he was placed in bed at the hospital."

Young Hold was a veteran of World War II and was an employee of the Taylor Construction Co.

Survivors are the parents, one brother, James Richard; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Hyder, and Peggy Ann of Milligan; maternal grandparents, Mrs. John Hold of Pauda, Ill.
