Mrs. Mae Deloach, 93, 413 Peachtree Lane, Elizabethton, died Friday, October 29, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.

Mrs. Deloach was a native of Johnson County and a daughter of the late Arch and Tish Sluder Lipford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Deloach, in 1973, a daughter, Julie Carr, a son, Herbert Deloach, two grandsons, five brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Deloach had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a member of the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Ruby Morton, Lula Bell Frazier and Joan Jarrett, all of Elizabethton, and Betty Stevens, Hampton; two sons, Buddy Deloach and Clif Deloach, both of Elizabethton; and one sister, Beulah Kyte, Butler. Sixteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Beulah Lee Lipford Kyte, 87, Butler, went home to be with her Lord Thursday, October 3, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her family. A native of Butler, she was a daughter of the late Archiebald and Latitia Sluder Lipford. She was a retired employee of Timberland Boot Manufacturing Company, Mountain City. Beulah loved her family, loved to quilt and work in her garden. She was a member of the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church and the Sanctuary Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haskiel Reece Kyte, August 21, 2001; by three brothers: Jess, Homer and Fred Lipford; Two Sisters: Cassie Green and Mae Deloach; and by three infant brothers and three infant sisters. Survivors include her children: Barbara Kyte "B.K." McCloud and her husband, Jim, Oxford, North Carolina, Garry G. Kyte and wife, Barbara, Butler, and Nyoka Kyte Weaver and her husband, Melvin, Butler; One Grandson: Alan Todd Kyte; Several Nieces & Nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alan Koch officiating. Interment will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Elsie S. Calhoun, age 92, of Newland passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

A native of Avery County, she was born March 12, 1918 a daughter of the late John Andrew and Flora Hurt Sluder.

She was a member of Vale Freewill Baptist Church.

Elsie enjoyed reading, gardening and preserving food through freezing and canning. She loved growing and arranging flowers.

She worked many years for the Sluder Floral Company.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Coye Calhoun; sister, Mildred Benfield; and a grandson, Coye Yates.

Left to cherish her memory are: a son, Doyle Calhoun and wife Grace of Newland; a daughter, Glenda Yates and husband Alfred of Banner Elk; three sisters-in-law, Clara Wise of Nebo, N.C., Lucille Sparks of Canton, O.H., Nell Cuthbertson and husband, Skies of Crossnore; three grandchildren, Nancy Thomason, Andrea Shakarian and Christie Yates; six great grandchildren, Jessica Yates, Aaron Yates, Alex Yates, Jordan Thomason, Tori Thomason and Zane Shakarian; many other reatives and friends.

BLUFF CITY - Thomas Steward Sluder, age 82, of Bluff City, TN passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Newland,

NC he was the son of the late Andrew and Flora Hurt Sluder. He was a member of Gateway Freewill Baptist Church and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Sluder. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Alma Sluder, of the home; two daughters, Rita Lorene Cox, Bristol, TN and Linda Sluder Gunter, Morganton, NC; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a nephew, Doyle Calhoun, Newland, NC and three nieces, Glenda Calhoun Yates, Newland, NC, Joyce Benfield Brewer, Newland, NC and Gina Benfield Barrier, Morganton, NC.

Ronald Sluder, 96, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at his residence.
A native of Newland, N.C., he was the son of the late Galen and Ida Waycaster Sluder. "Pap" retired from growing and selling shrubbery. He was a 20-year U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He loved to feed animals.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Barbara Doty, and the mother of his children, Marie Simerly Sluder.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sons, Keith "Joe" Sluder (Enola "Tiny"), Kenneth Sluder (Tammy) and Harold Sluder (Ruth), all of Roan Mountain; three step-sons, Floyd "Bud" Odom, Roan Mountain, Johnny Odom (Sharon), Chicago, Ill., and J.D. A service to honor the life of Ronald Sluder will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, in the Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Richard Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rick Holtsclaw. The family will receive friends at the Rhododendron Chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at the residence of a son, Keith "Joe" Sluder, at other times. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service in the Johnson Cemetery of the Crabtree Community, Roan Mountain, on Tuesday. ELIZABETHTON - Jackson Burl "Jack" Lipford, 79, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at his residence.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late James Homer & Addie Crowe Lipford. Jack attended Elizabethton High School. He was retired as a Supervisor at Industrial Piping, Charlotte, North Carolina after 35 years of service. Jack was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the Oasis Temple. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: James Lipford, Jr and Basil Lipford and three sisters: Beulah Snavely, Shirley Chapel and Roberta Dumpy's. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Judy Garland Lipford. His children: Michael & Phylis Lipford, Concord, North Carolina, Tammy & Gary Wallace and Todd & Pam Lipford all of Charlotte, North Carolina. 7 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren. One Brother: Robert "Bob" Lipford and two sisters: Mary King and Geraldine Vandeventer. Several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Shumate officiating. Mr. Charles E. Lipford, 86, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness.
He was the son of the late Jesse and Gladys Collins Lipford and was born in Carter County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-one years, Nora Grace Heaton Lipford on November 8, 2008; and a sister, Jo Lipford Smith.
Mr. Lipford was a graduate of Hampton High School, served in the United States Air Force as a radar technician during the Korean War, and graduated from East Tennessee State Teachers College. He taught algebra at Elizabethton High School and retired in 1987 after thirty years of service and was the first teacher in the Elizabethton City School System to be inducted into the Imagination Library Teacher's Hall of Fame.
He was a member of Siam Baptist Church where he served the church as a trustee. Mr. Lipford was an avid fan of both football and basketball at Elizabethton High School and attended most every home game. His hobbies included woodworking, reading and photography and he loved spending time in these activities. He also loved to keep in touch with his friends and former students using social media.
He is survived by a sister, Jessie Montgomery and her husband, Carroll, Elizabethton; two brothers, Gary "Butch" Lipford and his wife, Nancy, Elizabethton; Jimmy Lipford, Elizabethton; his nieces and nephews, Janie McKinney, David Smith, Pat Yelton, Pam Campbell, Becky Raulston, Chipper Montgomery, Gary A. Lipford, Mike Lipford, Chris Lipford, Jaime Lipford, Betty Lipscomb; a sister-in-law, Lucille Heaton and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Lipford will be conducted on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Jack Roddy and Rev. Jacob Guinn officiating. His niece, Becky Raulston, will deliver the eulogy. Music will be under the direction of Robin Montgomery and Bill Anderson.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday prior to the service or at his home at other times.
A Committal and Entombment service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

ELIZABETHTON - Jimmy Lipford, age 84, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 4, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Jimmy was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Jesse and Gladys Collins Lipford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Hampton Lipford; a granddaughter, Robin Yelton; a sister, Jo Smith; and a brother, Charles Lipford.

Jimmy was a loving father and grandfather and retired as a drywall finisher and painter. He was a member of Stoney Creek Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening, yard work, Braves baseball, and supporting his grandchildren's activities.

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Pamela Campbell and Pat Yelton, both of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Jordan Yelton and Loran Campbell, both of Elizabethton; a sister, Jessie Montgomery and husband Carroll, of Elizabethton; a brother, Gary "Butch" Lipford and wife Nancy, of Elizabethton; a special friend, Linda Crow, of Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Jimmy Lipford will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with speakers Becky Raulston providing the Eulogy and Mr. Wesley Simons, minister, reading scripture and saying prayer. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday; or at the residence at other times.

The graveside service will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 6, 2018 in the Centerview Cemetery, Mr. Wesley Simons, minister, officiating. She was retired as a cook from Happy Valley High School. She also worked as a CNA at Hillview Health Center for 23 years. Ruby loved to cook, music and loved being around kids. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands: David Cliff Morton, Roy Huskins and Luther Morton, three brothers: Buddy Deloach, Herbert Deloach and Cliff Deloach and two sisters: Julie Deloach Carr and Lula Bell Deloach Frazier. Ruby was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Ruby was an inspiration to all who knew her. She always was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends. All who knew Ruby loved Ruby. She was inducted into the Happy Valley High School Hall of Fame in 1994.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late William Bill and Roxie Mae Lipford Deloach. He was a retired School Bus Driver with the Carter County School System and also worked as a Cab Driver with the Graham Cab Company. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Deloach and a sister, Julie Carr.

Clifford Deloach, Sr., 72, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at his residence in Elizabethton.

He was a native of Butler and a son of the late, William and Roxie Mae Lipford Deloach. He was also preceded by 1 sister, Julie Carr and 2 brothers, Herb and Buddy Deloach.

Mr. Deloach was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

He had worked for over 20 years for ET&WNC Transportation and was retired from Penske Transportation as a Deisel Mechanic.

Survivors include; his wife of 53 years, Loretta Peters Deloach; one son, Clifford Deloach, Jr of Johnson City; two daughters, Tammy Bentley and her husband Steve of Elizabethton and Connie Delph of Jonesborough; three Grandchildren, Christy Manning and her husband Michael and Gary Delph, Jr and his wife, Mandy all of Johnson City and Stephen Aaron Bentley of Elizabethton; three great Grandchildren, Blake Delph, Kaelyn Delph and Adam Michael Manning all of Johnson City; four sisters, Ruby Morton, Lula Belle Frazier and JoAnn Jarrett all of Elizabethton and Betty Stevens of Hampton; several nieces and nephews also survive. Special friends, Archie Robinson, Larry Shoun, Paul Clawson and James Phipps.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Charles Knight and Rev. Kenley Knight will officiate. Burial services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Gary Delph, Stephen Bentley, Travis Bates, Chad Bryant, Steve Bentley and Michael Manning. A procession will leave the funeral home for the cemetery at 9:40 am Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Wednesday. A special thanks to the Nurses and staff of Amedysis Hospice.

Lula Bell "Lou" Deloach Frazier, 76, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, October 26, 2017, after a battle with cancer.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Mae Lipford Deloach.
Lou was a retired cook at Happy Valley High School. Lou loved her family, grandchildren and her church and loved doing woodwork and working in her garden. She was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Frazier, who died November 21, 2007; a sister, Julie Carr; and three brothers, Buddy, Cliff and Herbert Deloach.
Survivors include her children, Karen Applegate and husband Bill and David Bryant and wife Melissa, all of Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Dustin Bryant, Chad Bryant, Jamie Carpenter, Kristen Campbell, Cassie Lowe and Travis Bates; five great-grandchildren, Dayton Whitehead, Cassidy Carpenter, Jayce Lowe, Callie Lowe and Caden Bryant; her sisters, Ruby Morton, Betty Stevens and JoAnn; several nieces and nephews; and two special sisters-in-law, Loretta Deloach and Charlotte Deloach.
Funeral services for Lula Bell "Lou" Deloach Frazier will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 29, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Michael Carpenter, Dustin Bryant, Chad Bryant, Travis Bates, Bill Applegate, Johnny Vines, Robert Campbell, Jack Whitehead, Dayton Whitehead and Jackson Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Bates, Robert Carr, Herman Carr, Shannon Whitehead and R.L. Potter. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, Johnny Vines, whom she thought of as a second son, Jack and Teresa Whitehead and family, Charlotte Hodge and Sue Hyde for all the help during Lou's illness.

Nyoka “Nicky” Kyte Weaver, 63, Butler, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born April 18, 1958, in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. She was a daughter of the late Haskiel Reece & Beulah Lee Lipford Kyte. Nicky was a graduate of Johnson County High School. She was a retired employee of Northeast Correctional Complex. She was a member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church. She loved to read.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years: Melvin Weaver; her Sister & Brother-in-Law: Barbara Kyte “B.K.” and Jim McCloud, Oxford, North Carolina; her Brother & Sister-In-Law: Gary & Barbara Kyte, Butler; her Nephew: Alan Todd and wife, Belinda Kyte; Several Cousins & Friends; her special friend: Barb Miller and her cat Jasper.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021, in Butler Memorial Park with Rev. Bryan Cable officiating.
