    Emily Belle Hinkle Succumbs At Home
    Mrs. Emily Belle Hinkle died yesterday afternoon at 2:45 at her home on Ford Street, following three months of serious illness. She was 60 years old.
    Mrs. Hinkle was a lifetime resident of Carter County, and a member of the Charity Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
    She is survived by her husband, Edward Hinkle; three daughters, Mrs. Annie Cornett, Mrs. Hattie Vance, and Mrs. Erma Crowe; two sons, Worley F. Hinkle, and James Christine Hinkle; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Burrow and Mrs. Maggie Deloach; one brother, Ollie Collins; all of Elizabethton.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Houston Blevins and the Rev. Clarence Howington officiating. Pallbearers will be chosen from friends of the deceased.
    The body will remain at the Teterick[sic] Funeral Home until 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon.

    Emma Jean Cornett Harmon, 87, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jeff Henson, 1410 Trafford Lane, Savannah, Ga., 31410.
    Emma Jean was a native of Carter County, having moved to Savannah in 2016. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Annie Cornett.
    Emma Jean had been an employee of Magnavox and retired from North American Rayon Corporation. She was a member of Valley Forge United Methodist Church in Elizabethton.
    Emma Jean enjoyed spending a lot of time in downtown Elizabethton. Many of the merchants she knew first-hand and they knew her on a first-name basis.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dallas Wayne Cornett, and four brothers, Albert Carter Cornett, Charles James "Baldy" Cornett, "Latcheye" Howard Edward Cornett and Billy Bob Cornett.
    Survivors include two sisters, Earlene Cornett Phillips and husband, Roy, and Joyce Ann Cornett Henson and husband, Jeff; a brother, Floyd "Meatball" Cornett and wife, Gloria; and a special niece, Lisa Marie Roberts Jones. Several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

    PENSACOLA, Fla. — Floyd Aroline “Meatball” Cornett, 83, of Pensacola, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was born on December 12, 1938 in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Fredrick Charles and Annie Amelia Hinkle Cornett.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Junior, Albert, Charles, Howard and Billy Cornett; one sister, Emma Jean Cornett Harmon; and by several nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
    Floyd worked at Chemstrand/Monsanto until he retired in 1994. He was then employed at Quest Diagnostics for 23 years until he retired in May of 2021.
    Floyd was an avid Tennessee Vols fan.
    He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gloria Fay Cornett; his children, Tammy (Craig) Ketterman, Donna Lombardi and Gary Durden; three grandchildren, Chuckie Ketterman, Tiffany Durden and Alex (Rebecca) Durden; two great-grandchildren, Alaska and Ellis; two sisters, Earlene Phillips and Joyce (Jeff) Henson. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home.

    ELIZABETHTON — Billy Bob Cornett, 61, Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Fredrick Charles and Annie Amelia Hinkle Cornett. He was as a carpenter, security officer and custodian until his early retirement.

    He was of the Baptist Faith.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Junior, Albert, Charles "Baldie" and Howard "Latcheye" Cornett; and several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.

    He was an avid fisherman and loved to go camping.

    Survivors include three sisters, Emma Jean Harmon of the home, Earlene (Roy) Phillips, Fall Branch and Joyce (Jeff) Henson, Elizabethton; one brother, Floyd (Gloria) Cornett, Pensacola, Florida; his special friend, Donna Whitehead.

    A Memorial Service will be conducted at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Joel Cook officiating.

    The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of Joyce & Jeff Henson, Elizabethton.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
