We are saddened to announce the passing of Pauline Roark, age 90, on June 29,2021 at Life Care Center of Elizabethton, TN. She was born July 19, 1930 to the late Cicero Mahala and Vainy Greer Mahala. Pauline was a member of Kennett Square Missionary Baptist Church and she enjoyed making crafts and decorations. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Roark.

Those left to cherish her memory include: two sisters Madeline Parsons of Mountain City; and Edna Lewis, West Jefferson, West Jefferson, N.C. four brothers: Billy Mahala of Shady Valley; John Mahala of Stoney Creek; Fred Mahala of Shady Valley and Roy Mahala of Shady Valley and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside and entombment services were held Friday, July 2, 2021 in Sunset Mausoleum of Love at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Porter officiating.

Bill J. Greer age 84, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with his Lord on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born on April 23, 1935 to the late Ben & Lorne Greer. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Margie Lewis Greer on January 28, 2018, and sister; Mary Sue Peck on August 17, 2019.

Bill was a deacon at First Freewill Baptist Church for over 20 years. Bill was also known for ringing the bell at First Freewill Baptist. He Loved collecting Carter family records, playing the guitar and Harmonica. He also loved gardening and really enjoyed being outside. Bill is loved and will be remembered by many.

Bill is survived by a family who loved him very much; daughters, Teresa Parlier and husband Mike of Deep Gap, NC; Sandy Billings and husband Tim of Butler, TN; sons, Cledith Greer of Mountain City, TN; John Greer and wife Denise of Butler, TN; grandchildren, Michael Parlier, Chelsey Norwood, Amanda Mullins and husband Chris, Ashlee Cornett and husband Jeremy, Alysa Hodge and husband Ernie, Amber Bumgardner and husband Timmy, Brandon Greer and Bradley Greer; great grandchildren, Lexi and Allie Mullins, Brylee and Blaine Cornett, Ava and Emma Hodge, Sam and Seth Bumgardner; Special Niece Carol Wallace Greene, and special sister-in-law; Josephine Wallace.

The family will receive friends on Thursday September 19, 2019 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Jones officiating. Graveside service and burial will follow at the Lewis Cemetery (Pine Mtn Rd., NC). Pallbearers will be Chris Mullins, Jeremy Cornett, Ernie Hodge, Timmy Bumgardner, Josh Phillips, and Ritchie Greene. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. John Whitlock and Earl Greer.

MOUNTAIN CITY - Mary Sue Peck, age 75, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away at her daughter's residence on Saturday, August 17, 2019.

Mary was born in Johnson County, TN on February 2, 15, 1944, to the late Ben L. Greer and Lorne Price Greer. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her Grandparents, Roby and Viola Price and John and Omie Greer; Sisters, Geraldine Greer and Christine Pleasant; Brothers, Carl Greer, Ralph Greer, and Harold Greer; grandson, Jason Davis; several aunts and uncles.

Mary worked as a caregiver, taking care of many in the area. Mary was well suited for this, as she enjoyed taking care of other people. When Mary wasn't working, she enjoyed baking and spending time with her friends and family.

Those left to cherish Mary's memory are her daughter, Lora Cable and husband Justin of Butler, TN; 3 sons Terry Davis and wife Pammy of Mountain City, TN, Billy Davis of the home, and Freddy Potter of Wilkes, NC; 3 brothers Bill, Wayne, and David Greer all of Mt. City, TN; 10 grandchildren Ryan Snyder, Benji Stout, Joshua, Joey, and Tiffany Davis, Tosha, Jordan, and Morgan Potter, Kay Harper, and Cecil Wentworth; 18 great-grandchildren Matthey, Destani, Rihanna, November, Nitrous, and Ryan Snyder, Jr, Navaeh and Paris Davis, Kenneth Lipford, Kyndle Davis, Lucas, Serena, and Jasmine Wentworth, Quinton, Riley, McKenzie, Lexi, and Harlynn Potter; several nieces and nephews, as well as, special friends Dot Canter, Buster Fritts, and Shirley Phipps.

Services for Mary will be held at 8pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home in Mountain City, TN with Roy Wilson to officiate. The family will receive friends from 6pm – 8pm prior to the service.

Graveside service will be at 11 am on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at the Rocksprings Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be TJ Brown, Adam Worley, Chris Brown, Eddie Tester, William Rigsby, and James Shriner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Hagler and Buster Fritts.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Wayne Greer on Saturday October 2, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center at the age of 66. Wayne was born April 29, 1955 to the late Ben Greer and Lorne Price Greer in Mountain City, TN. Wayne was also proceeded in death by brothers; Ralph, Carl, Bill, Harold, and David Greer, also sisters; Geraldine Greer, Mary Sue Peck, and Christine Pleasant. He was an associate of Hux & Lipford Funeral Home and Sunset Memorial Park. He was a man with a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand always saying “if you need anything let me know” and had the ability to make you laugh. He loved going to yard sales and fishing.

Survivors include; Son; Connor Greer of the home. Daughter; Amber Wilson

Several Nieces and nephews also survive. Special friends; Dan Lipford and Bugs McCoy.

He was a man that loved his family and God. He also loved his days of working as a Johnson County Constable and was an employee at Maymead for 23 years.

He enjoyed watching westerns and spending time with family and friends.

Surviors include his wife of 49 years Veronia R Stout Williams and Granddaughter Tiffany Williams and Charlie Forrester, and Great Grandson Bentley Forrester all of the home.

Roy Glen Mahala jr, age 44, of Bluff City, TN passed away on December 29th, 2021 at Mountain Home VA medical center.
Roy was retired from the Navy. He enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything but also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, ziplining, and rafting. He was adventurous and tough spirited. Those around him loved him.
