    Elizabeth Oates, age 90, of Elizabethton, was called home to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, August 21, 2011 from the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Harry Moore, Sr. and Dora Hale Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Oates, two brothers, Robert "Bob" Moore, Sr. and William "Bill" Moore, and her son-in-law, Earl D. Malone.

    Mrs. Oates was retired from Kelly's Food Products. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she loved attending her weekly bible study classes. When able, Mrs. Oates enjoyed walking and was often seen at the Elizabethton High School track. She and her friend, Ruby Fox, loved going to play Bingo at Wal-Mart where she was a regular winner. Mrs. Oates had many passions and enjoyments in life, but the one that gave her the most pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren.

    Mrs. Oates is survived by her daughter, Betty Malone, Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Mark Malone, Piney Flats, and Michelle Malone Gillis and husband, Luke, Gray; three great-grandchildren, Brandi Woods and husband, Blake, Johnson City, Caiden Eli Gillis and Callie Elizabeth Gillis, both of Gray; a brother, Harry Moore, Jr. and wife, Virginia, Elizabethton; her granddaughter-in-law, Sheila Malone, Johnson City; and special friends, Ruby Moffitt, Elizabethton, Ralph and Macel Gardner, Elizabethton, and Pearl Estep, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A celebration of life service for Mrs. Elizabeth Oates will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Tim Tapp officiating. A eulogy will be provided by her granddaughter, Michelle Malone Gillis. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Betsy Pettit. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel prior to the service or at the home of her daughter, Betty Malone, at 408 Ferguson Ave., Elizabethton, other times.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 A.M. Wednesday to travel together in procession. Active pallbearers will be Luke Gillis, Rick Moore, Jerry Moore, John Moore, Bob Moore, Jr. and Daniel Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Woods, Sammy Nave, Ralph Gardner, Jim Street and her many friends at Immanuel Baptist Church.

    Betty A. Malone, age 75, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

    A native of Elizabethton, TN she was the daughter of the late William Oates and Mary Elizabeth Moore Oates.

    Betty had worked at N.A.R.C. and T.P. I. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church but attended Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. Betty loved to shop and was always ready to go. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and also enjoyed looking at lighthouses.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. Malone. Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Michelle Gillis, Gray, TN; a son, Mark Malone, Johnson City, TN; three grandchildren, Caiden Gillis, Callie Gillis and Brandi Woods; a great-granddaughter, Presley Woods and a special friend, Tammy Etherton.

    A graveside service to honor the life of Betty A. Malone will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in Happy Valley Memorial Park.

    JOHNSON CITY - Mark Earl Malone, age 56, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021 at NHC Healthcare of Johnson City, following an extended illness. Mark was born in Elizabethton on June 20, 1965 to the late Earl D Malone. In addition to his father, Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Oates, his paternal grandparents, Earl and Chessie Bare Malone.

    Mark enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, watching UT Football, listening to classic rock and especially being a “pappy” to his beautiful granddaughter, Presley Woods.

    Those left to honor and cherish the memory of Mark Earl Malone include his daughter, Brandi Woods (Blake); his granddaughter, Presley Woods; former spouse of 25 years and beloved mother to his daughter, Sheila Malone; former mother and father in-law, Kenneth and Loretta Rainbolt; paternal uncle, Gene Oaks; special aunt, Judy Malone; special cousin, John David Malone; faithful friends, Shannon Grindstaff, Bob Cordell, Dan Britt and Joe Cross; several cousins also survive.

    A service to celebrate the life of Mark Malone will be conducted at 8:00 PM Thursday July 1, 2021 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Brad Perry officiating.

    ELIZABETHTON - Brandi Renee Malone Woods, age 36, of Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Brandi was born in Johnson City to Sheila Renee Rainbolt Malone and the late Mark Malone.
    Brandi was an LPN and worked at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and was working towards becoming an RN. She enjoyed shopping and her daughter Presley was her life.
    She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Malone; Paternal Grandfather, Earl D. Malone; Aunt, Robin Page and Paternal Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Oates.
    Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 13 years, Blake Woods of the home; daughter, Presley Woods, the sunshine of her life, also of the home; mother, Sheila Rainbolt Malone of Elizabethton; mother-in-law, Debbie Page of Johnson City; brother-in-law, Justin Woods (Genie) of Indiana; special great aunt, Pat Bates of Kingsport; maternal grandparents, Kenneth & Loretta Rainbolt of Elizabethton and two special aunts, Felecia Lewis of Elizabethton and Sandra Henderson of Alabama. Special cousins also survive.
    A service to honor the life of Brandi Renee Malone Woods will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, TN with Mr. Brad Perry officiating and a eulogy delivered by her mother, Sheila Malone. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Riverside Chapel of the funeral home. It was Brandi’s wish to be cremated.
