    Julius Charles "J.C." Puckett Sr., 88, of Newland, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
    A native of Avery County, he was born April 2, 1923, a son of the late Grover and Maggie Gwyn Puckett. He enjoyed turkey shoots, taking care of his garden and collecting guns. Along with his parents, Puckett was preceded in death by his: Sons, Jay C.Puckett and David Puckett; daughter, Ruby Louise Puckett; grandson, Morris Puckett. Puckett has left to cherish his memory his: Daughter, Edna Puckett Campbell and husband David of Erwin, Tenn.; sons, Charles J. Puckett Jr. and wife Sandra of Newland, Larry Puckett and wife Glenna also of Newland; brother, Grover Puckett Jr. of San Francisco, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

    Charles was born on June 21, 1946 in Avery County, North Carolina, a son of the late Julius Charles "JC" Puckett, Sr. and the late Macie Lee Puckett.

    Charles graduated from Cranberry High School. He had many various businesses in Avery County over the years. From Auto Parts to opening the Quik Shop in Newland. Charles was the Owner and Operator of Carolina Quality Fraser Fir Farms for many decades. Never missing an opportunity, he opened a used car dealership in Newland. He was a member of the Avery County Christmas Tree Growers Association, the NC Tree Growers Association and Morgan Branch Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed racing, especially drag racing.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Puckett; father, Charles Julius Puckett, Sr.; mother, Macie Puckett; two brothers, Jay Cleveland Puckett, David Puckett; son-in-law, Steve Nelson and a daughter-in-law, Jessica Puckett.

    Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory, two daughters, Mary Ann (Phillip) McCloud of Newland, NC, Cindy Nelson of Newland, NC; son, Jeff (Monica) Puckett of Newland, NC; fiancé, Debbie Vance of Newland, NC; sister, Edna (David) Campbell of Elizabethton, TN; brother, Larry (Glenna) Puckett of Newland, NC; Seven Grandchildren, Sierra, Brent, Charley, Lane, Laiken, Jeffrey, Carter; Two Great Grandchildren, Gideon and Paislie.

    Services for Charles Puckett will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, from the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Hodges and Pastor Bob Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

    Interment will be in the Puckett Family Cemetery
