    GENETIE MOREFIELD
    Genetie Pearl Morefield, 55, died at her home in Neva, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., after a three-months illness. She was a life-time resident of Johnson county and a member of the Neva Free Will Baptist Church.
    She is survived by her husband, Joe Morefield; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Guinn of Neva; three sons, Robert Morefield of McDowell, West Virginia, Elbert Morefield of Shouns, Tennessee, and Private First Class Oliver Morefield in Germany; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Morefield, Mrs. Tina Slamons, and Mrs. Maggie Gentry, all of Johnson City, and Mrs. Murry Jenkins of Doeville; four brothers, Isaac Morefield of Bristol, Charley Morefield of Doeville, and Jess Morefield and Karl Morefield both of Jenkins, Kentucky.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the Neva Free Will Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Earl Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Stout Cemetery.
    Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Tetrick Funeral Home.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Genetie Pearl Morefield, 55, who died at her home at Neva, Tuesday, after a three-month illness, were held Thursday at the Neva Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Campbell officiating.
    She is survived by her husband, Joe Morefield; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Guinn of Neva; three sons, Robert Morefield of McDowell, W. Va., Elbert Morefield of Shouns and Pfc. Oliver Morefield stationed in Germany; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Morefield, Mrs. Tina Salmons, and Mrs. Maggie Gentry, all of Johnson City, and Mrs. Murray Jenkins of Doeville; four brothers, Isaac Morefield of Bristol, Charlie Morefield of Doeville and Jess and Carl Morefield of Jenkins, Ky.

    TRAFFIC ACCIDENT FATAL TO RESIDENT
    Oliver Morefield, son of Mr. Joe Morefield, Neva, was killed in an automobile wreck, which occurred at about 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, March 24, three miles out of Mountain City near Shouns.
    ALSO in same Newspaper and issue:
    OLIVER MOREFIELD, 25, World War II veteran of Neva, who died as a result of a traffic accident near here on Wednesday night, will be buried at 10 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Church at Neva. Rev. Earl Campbell of Butler and Rev. Joe Ponder of Mountain City will officiate. Burial will be in the Stout Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded him at the grave.
    Survivors include his father, Joe Morefield, Neva; sisters, Mrs. Ethel Guinn, Neva; two brothers, Robert of McDowell, W. Va. and Elbert of Shouns. His mother was the late Pearl Morefield.
    Morefield served in the Pacific theatre during the war. He was discharged in 1945, after which he reenlisted and served 18 months in the army.

    Neva Man Killed In Auto-Truck Collision
    MOUNTAIN CITY, Thurs. March 25 – Oliver Moorefield of Neva, Tenn. was killed here last night involving a truck and a passenger car, and Coolidge Arnold, also of Neva is in serious condition in Mountain Home Hospital at Johnson City.
    A 1941 (Plymouth) sedan, driven by Arnold and carrying three other passengers, was in collision with a coal truck from St. Paul, Va., driven by Henry Lowe, who was uninjured. The accident occurred about 8 p.m. three miles from Mountain City on the North Carolina highway, according to the sheriff of Johnson County.

    Mildred Ann Morefield Courtner, 94, formerly of Johnson City, died Friday, November 23, 2018 at Trinity Health Care of Lenoir City.

    Mildred was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Robert Harrison Morefield and Edna Tyson Osborne Morefield.

    Mildred was a retired employee of the U. S. District Court in Greeneville, where she worked in the probation office.

    She was a member of the University Parkway Baptist Church.

    Mildred was a member of the American Business Women's Association and former member of the North Johnson City Optimist Club.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert "Earl" Courtner in 2012; a son, Stephen Robert Courtner; three sisters, Kathryn Morefield, Berniece Wilkinson and Lucille Nelson; a brother, R. L. Morefield.

    Survivors include: her daughter, Carolyn C. Wood of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Carol Courtner; sisters, Thelma Mains, Jeannie Arnold and Mae Allen; a brother, Kenny Morefield; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

    A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, November 29, 2018 under the direction of Dr. Michael Oaks. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.

    Mildred married Robert Earl Courtner about 1946 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Robert (son of Robert Allen Courtner and Mattie Mae Neatherly) was born on 15 Jan 1917 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 21 Jun 2012 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Mountain Home National Cemetery, , Washington County, Tennessee. He was retired from the US Air Force with over 25years of service and was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include one daughter, Regina L. Gutkosky, Arizona; one son, Robert Lark Morefield; five sisters, Mildred Courtner and Mae Allen, both of Johnson City, Tennessee; Bernice Wilkerson,Kingsport, Tennessee; Lucille Nelson and Jeannie Arnold, Mountain City, Tennessee and Thelma Mains, Zionville, North Carolina; one brother, Kenny Morefield, Newark, Delaware. Military services were conducted Friday January 19, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tennessee. Eggers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Jean was born May 18, 1941, in Johnson County, TN, to the late Charles David Guinn and Ethel Georgia Morefield Guinn. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Joe Baird, sister Geneva Eggers, and her brothers, Joe, Dave, Jack, and Wayne.

    Jean was a hard worker for those who knew her best: whether she was working outside around the house, taking care of others, or in her Churches, Bakers Gap Baptist Church and most recently in her son’s church, Baird’s Chapel. Jean loved her family very much, especially her grandkids. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

    Those left to cherish her memories included her sons, Terry Douglas Baird and wife Joyce and Timothy Joe Baird and wife Traci, grandchildren, Aaron Joseph Baird and wife Kim, Katie Baird, Abby Baird, and Anna Baird, sisters, Mae Talley, Melissa McCullah, Lynn Gagliardi and husband AL; one brother, Mark Guinn; several nieces, nephews and cousins, brothers and sisters-in-laws, Lonnie Baird, Judy Roark and husband Lee L., Peggy Potter and husband Howard; special niece who was like a daughter, Patricia Tello.

    The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastors Dennis Peterson and James Richardson officiating. Graveside service and burial will be on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. from Bakers Gap Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carroll Chappell, Tim Fenner, Charles McKinney, Clifton Worley, Aaron Baird, Kenny Poole, and Marshall Potter. Honorary pallbearers are Howard Potter, Lee L. Roark, Keith Gwinn, David Gwinn, and the Men of Baird’s Chapel.

    Genevia was always energetic and outgoing. She was always willing to help others. She enjoyed reading and shopping.

    Genevia was a member of Locust Gap Baptist Church.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 16 ½ years, Bob Eggers; daughters: Lisa Shore and husband Bubba, Glenda McCulloch and husband Jimmy, Sandy Worley; son, Clifton Worley Jr. and wife Michelle; step-daughter, Donna Kirby and husband Buddy; step-son, Michael Eggers and wife Brenda; sisters: Jean Baird, Melissa McCullah, Mae Talley and Lynn Gagliardi; brothers: Jack Guinn, Mark Guinn and Wayne Guinn; several grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Mac Arnold officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Keith Guinn, Adam Worley, Todd Cable, Raiden Lewis, Thomas Stout, Michael Eggers, Adam Manuel, David Sowder Poole. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Arnold, Bud McComas, Tommy Rhymer, Mike McKinney, Gary Eggers and David Manuel.

    We are saddened to announce the passing of Mark S. Guinn, age 65, on Wednesday July 26, 2023 at his residence. He was born February 28, 1958 to the late Charles D. Guinn and Ethel Morefield Guinn. Mark was a member of the Victory Chapel Cowboy Church and enjoyed Woodworking and Fishing.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Dave Guinn, Joe Guinn, Wayne Guinn, and Jack Guinn. Sisters; Geneva Eggers, and Jean Baird.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his Spouse Doris Vanover; three sons, Dakota Guinn, Ricky Vanover, and Jason Vanover; two daughters, Amanda and Paula Schofield; three sisters, Melissa McCullah, Lynn Gagliardi, and Mae Talley; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friends Steven Parks, and Spider also survive.

    To honor his wishes there will be no formal services held.
