ERWIN - Horace Mack Stockton, age 94, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at his home. A native of Flag Pond, Horace is a son of the late Hubert Mack and Mindy Jane (Tipton) Stockton. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Korean War. When he wasn’t working as an Electrical Contractor, he enjoyed Beekeeping. In addition to his parents, Horace is preceded in death by his first wife: Betty Jane Stockton; step-son: James Larry Furchess; son: Robert Gray Stockton; great-grandson: Aiden Patrick Turner; brothers: Clarence Stockton, Claude Stockton and Blaine Stockton; and sister: Rellie Silvers.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Horace Mack Stockton in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, November 29, 2021 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Rice and Reverend Art Gibson will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Justin Luke McCurry and Shannon Turner. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 pm on Monday and continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Evergreen Cemetery. Those attending the committal service should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:30 am on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Larry Norris, David Step, Everett Tipton, Howard Hoilman, Tim Edwards and Steve Edwards.

ERWIN - Carter Stockton, age 89, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022. A native of Erwin, Carter is a son of the late Hubert and Mindy (Tipton) Stockton. He was a member of Erwin Church of Christ and was a Pipefitter by trade. Carter loved his grandchildren and dog. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making a good trade. In addition to his parents, Carter is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Betty Lillian (Tipton) Stockton and his daughter, Cathy Jo Buck.

Carter Stockton has left behind to cherish his memory: son, Terry L. Stockton and significant other, Judith N. Jones; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Rellie Jane Silvers, age 84, Flag Pond, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 28, 2020. She was a lifelong resident of Flag Pond and a daughter of the late Hubert and Mindie Jane Tipton Stockton.
Rellie retired from Morrill Motors after twenty-eight years of service. She was a member of Jennie Moore Presbyterian Church for fifty-six years. Rellie loved the Lord. She enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Lester Silvers; three brothers: Clarence, Claude, and Blaine Stockton.
Rellie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty-nine cherished years, Harrison Silvers; one son, Tim Silvers and wife, Angela of Jonesborough; two daughters: Nancy Price and husband, Victor, Teresa Campbell and husband, Dana all of Erwin; two brothers: Horace Stockton and wife, Reva, Carter Stockton and wife, Betty all of Erwin; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Jennie Moore Presbyterian Church. Rev. Craig Shelton and Rev. George Rolling will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until time of service. Committal will follow in the Stockton Cemetery.

FLAG POND - Hoy W. Tipton, age 94, Flag Pond, passed away Wednesday April 21, 2021 at Center on Aging. He was lifelong resident of Flag Pond and a son of the late Jasper and Bonnie Cutshall Tipton.

Hoy was a member of Sweetwater Church of God and attended as long as his health permitted. He retired from farming after his health declined.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Ina Lee Slivers Tipton on July 16, 2016; one grandson, Joseph Williams, one brother: Wayne Tipton; two sisters, Kathryn Rice and Ollie Black; brother-in-law, Offie Silvers; sister-in-law, Jean Tipton.

Hoy leaves behind to cherish his memory, one daughter, Polly Woodward and husband, Ray of Erwin; three brothers: Vernon Tipton of Greeneville, Dallas Tipton of WV, Blake Tipton of Erwin; one sister: Eileen Silvers of Flag Pond; one grandson, Ashley Woodward; two great grandchildren: Abigail Woodward and Carson Woodward; two brothers-in-law, Edgar Rice of Flag Pond, J. B. Silvers and wife, Millie of Burnsville, NC; two sisters-in-law: Vernie Briggs of Erwin, Velva Sparks and husband, Freeman of Erwin; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. Kevin Laws will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ashley Woodward, Carson Woodward, Jack Tipton, Willie Edwards, Isaac Lewis, and Lonnie Harris.

FLAG POND - Eileen Tipton Silvers, age 88, Flag Pond, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 3, 2022. She is a daughter of the late Jasper and Bonnie Cutshall Tipton. Eileen was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County.
She retired from Morrill Motors in 2012 after forty-seven years of service. Eileen attended Sweetwater Church of God. She enjoyed cross-stitching, embroidering, solving word searches and reading her bible. Eileen was an excellent cook and famous for her delicious cat-head biscuits. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and sitting on her porch. Eileen always enjoyed having company over to visit her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Offie Silvers on February 21, 2019; her son, David Tipton; two brothers: Wayne and Hoy Tipton; two sisters: Katheryn Rice and Novella “Ollie” Black.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters: Lib Woodward, Flag Pond and Jeannette Porter (Larry), Limestone; three brothers: Vernon Tipton, Greeneville, Dallas Tipton, Johnson City and Blake Tipton, Erwin; daughter-in-law, Dottie Tipton; brother-in-law, Edgar Rice; seven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home. Reverend Craig Shelton will officiate the 7:00 p.m. funeral service. Committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Silverstown Cemetery, Flag Pond Community. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to friends, Amber, Reva, Fay and Shirley; Ballad Health Hospice staff: Torraina, Candace, Greg and Robbie for all the love and care shown to Eileen and her family.
