    Lloyd E. Crowe, Jr., 82, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Washington County, he was the son of the late Lloyd E. Crowe and Lela Crowe Crouch. He was a member of Boones Creek Bible Church and recently attended Martindale Baptist Church. Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a long time employee at Mason Dixon Truck Lines where he worked as a dispatcher. Lloyd attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN for 3 years and also attended East Tennessee State University. Lloyd enjoyed baseball, fishing and watching UT sports. In addition to his parents, Lloyd is preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Lorene Crowe.
    Those left to cherish his memory include his children: a son, Rocky Crowe and his wife Mikki and a daughter, Lea Ann Poteat and her husband Jason all of Johnson City; grandsons, Weston Crowe and Gavin Poteat; a sister, Phoebe Elizabeth “Sue” Tipton of Gray; a brother, Roy Crowe of Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. A private Graveside Service will be held at Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City with Pastor Delbert Storie officiating.

    GRAY - Ms. Phoebie “Sue” Tipton, 84, of Gray passed away on Monday March 22, 2021, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

    Sue was the daughter of the late Lloyd Crowe and Lela Crouch.

    Sue was a homemaker while her girls were younger and later worked at Proffitt’s in the Johnson City Mall until she retired.

    She was a devoted Christian woman and enjoyed reading the Bible and daily devotionals. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Sinking Creek Baptist Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Crowe, Jr.

    Survivors include her daughters, Sondra McCurry and her husband Steve, Unicoi, and Sherri Tipton, Elizabethton; granddaughters, Lauren McCloud and her husband Brandon, Johnson City, and Kalah Tipton, Elizabethton; brother, Roy Crowe and his wife Dawn, Johnson City; her special buddy Cosmo that followed her every step.

    A graveside committal service for Ms. Phoebie “Sue” Tipton will be conducted at 1 pm Wednesday, March 24, 2021, in the Gray Cemetery with Rev. Steve Pate officiating.
