Hilma Burleson Daniels, age 92, of the Hughes Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 18th, 2020.

A native of Erwin, TN but lived most of her life in Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Doc and Della Griffith Burleson and wife of the late Nat Daniels.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son; a grandson, Steven Lynn Daniels; sisters: Edlois McCrary and Nell Carter and brothers: Richard and Joe Burleson.

Hilma was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed collecting dolls.

She worked at Crossnore Hospital for 16 years and loved helping Dr. E. H. Smith and Aldie Johnson, R.N. deliver babies. Hilma also worked at Broughton Hospital for a number of years.

Surviving is her sons: Richard Daniels and wife, Elwanda, Sam H. Daniels and Tommy Daniels and wife, Jean, all of Newland; grandchildren: Chris Daniels, Shelly Luckadoo (Tony), Brian Daniels (Lora), Kenny Harrison Daniels, Jeffery Daniels (Dawn) and Jason Daniels (Deanna); fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, Rodney Burleson and wife, Norma, of Kingsport, TN and dear friend, "Kat" Shell of Shell Creek, TN. Several nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive.

Private family services will be held on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Harrison Daniel's Cemetery.

Dale Burleson, 66, of Newland, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at his residence.

Dale was born on November 9, 1955 in Avery County, North Carolina, a son of the late Grover Olin Burleson and the late Sylvia Phillips Burleson. He was known for dressing up as Santa every Christmas for the children. Dale loved spending time with his family, being outside, and his flowers. He also loved listening to his Classic Rock music and John Boy and Billy in the morning.

He was preceded in death by his father, Grover Olin Burleson; mother, Sylvia Phillips Burleson; three brothers, Gene Burleson, Hobert Burleson, Jewel Burleson; five sisters, Betty Lingerfelt, Loretta Cate, Lois Johnson, Charlotte Burleson, Gwendolen Burleson.

Dale leaves behind to cherish his memory, two daughters, Sylvia (Marc Causby) Burleson of Newland, NC, Stephanie (Stetson McKinney) Burleson; brother, Danny Burleson; sister, Lena Sue Andrews; grandson, Oliver Causby. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Services for Dale Burleson will be announced by the family at a later date.
