    Notes:

    Mrs. Helen G. Carrier, 89, 970 Hwy. 91, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.

    Mrs. Carrier was a native of Carter County and was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Lena Rainbolt Gouge. In addition to her parents Mrs. Carrier was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

    Mrs. Carrier was a member of Watuaga Valley Freewill Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Bemberg and Beaunit Fibers and was a member of the hospital auxiliary and served as a Pink Lady at Carter County Hospital. Mrs. Carrier loved to quilt and had made quilts for her three children and her eight grandchildren. She loved flowers and gardening.

    Mrs. Carrier is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Diana Blevins, Elizabethton; Shelby and Raymond Williams, Lebanon, TN; one son and daughter-in-law, Walter S. and Linda Carrier, Elizabethton; one brother, Ralph Gouge, Elizabethton; a sister, Barbara Berry, Elizabethton; eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    ELIZABETHTON - Ralph Gouge, age 92, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following an extended illness.

    Ralph was born in Carter County, Tennessee to the late Frank Leslie Gouge and Lena Rainbolt Gouge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Orlena Vines Gouge; and his special friend, Rose Hodge; three sisters, Novella Williams, Helen Carrier, and Vivian Elliott; three brothers, Howard Gouge, Fred Gouge, and Strail Gouge; and one grandson, Charles G. Pierce.

    Ralph was a World War II Army veteran and was a former member of Hunter First Baptist Church. He retired as a machinist at UNIVAC and was a member of the Senior Dance Group. He enjoyed dancing, was an avid fisherman, gardening, but most of all he loved children – he was "Daddy" and "Papaw" to many.

    Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Gary Pierce of Bristol, TN and Susan and John Estep of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, James Pierce of Johnson City, Wendy Hill and husband Spencer of Knoxville, Andrew Estep and fiancé Abi of Johnson City, and Justin Estep and fiancé Julie of Elizabethton; eight great-grandchildren, Hally and Spencer Hill, Colton, Carter, Chloe and Callie Otto, and Rhyleigh and Trey Whitson; two adopted sons, James Timbs and Gary Timbs both of Elizabethton; one sister, Barbara Berry of Elizabethton; one brother-in-law and wife, Edward G. and Marge Vines of Hyattsville, Maryland and a special cousin, Kyle and Phyliss Gouge of Johnson City. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    A service to celebrate the life of Ralph Gouge will be conducted at 7:30 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Rusty Verran, officiating. A eulogy will be provided by Dr. Ted Taylor. The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday, or at the residence at any time.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be James Pierce, Andrew Estep, Freddie Gouge, Todd Hamm, Brad Hamm, Gary Timbs and James Timbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Gouge, Gene Moreland and Members of the Senior Dance Group.

    Notes:

    Eddie F. Williams, 73, of Leesburg, Fla., passed away suddenly on Monday, July 15, 2019. Born and raised in Elizabethton, Tenn., Eddie attended the University of Tennessee where he earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Shortly after beginning his career, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968. After his service, he worked 32 years in Civil Service at the Naval Air Warfare Center in Orlando, Fla., building flight and ship simulators for the U.S. government. He retired in 2000 and moved back to his hometown of Elizabethton, where he resided for 17 years with his wife, Sharon. He then moved with Sharon to Leesburg and lived happily for two years near his daughter, Rebecca, and son-in-law, Stefan, preceding his death.
    Eddie loved gardening, plants and blooms, and most of all, orchids. He loved all things technological and was a history buff. Eddie had a love for food and you oftentimes found him with a sweet treat or cooking up a new recipe in the kitchen.
    He loved walking his best friend, Miniature Schnauzer, Jasper, and chatting with all the neighbors.
    Eddie is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sharon Vance Williams and his children, Rebecca Williams (Stefan) Basic of Apopka, Fla., and Abigail Williams (David) Hicks of Jonesboro, Tenn.; his two sisters, Loretta Williams May and Ramona Williams Trent of Elizabethton, Tenn.; and his two brothers, Theodore Williams and Bobby Williams of Knoxville, Tenn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his much loved dog, Jasper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Teddy A. Williams and Novella Gouge Williams of Elizabethton, Tenn.
    Services were held at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton, Tenn., and interment at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn.

    LEBANON - Shelby Jean Carrier Williams, age 81, of Lebanon, Tennessee, formerly of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

    Shelby was born in Carter County to the late Walter J. and Helen Gouge Carrier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Carrier.

    Shelby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was of the Baptist faith. She had worked in various positions in the banking industry. Shelby enjoyed traveling, blue grass music, cooking, reading and quilting, but her family was her true source of happiness.

    Those left to cherish her wonderful memories include her devoted husband of 62 years, Raymond Maynard Williams, of the home; one son, Chris (Rachelle) Williams, of Elizabethton; one daughter, Midge (Jerry) Tyler; her grandchildren, Luke Williams, Ethan (Alex) Williams, Dalton (Whitney) Williams, Alexis Williams, Presley Tyler (Kaitlin) and Halen Tyler; her great grandchildren, Brileigh and Camden Williams Gott, Ridge and Hadley Williams and Waylon Tyler; one sister, Diana Blevins; and one brother, Sherrill (Linda) Carrier. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A graveside service to celebrate the life of Shelby Jean Carrier Williams will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Roger Haley, officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Elmer Sams. Active pallbearers will be Chris Williams, Jerry Tyler, Dalton Williams, Presley Tyler, Gary Grindstaff and Barry Carrier. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Williams, Ethan Williams, Tim Carrier, Sherrill Carrier, Mack Collins, Sean Beach, the barn crew and her remaining brothers-in-law and nephews. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 AM on Friday, to go in procession.

    Those wishing to visit with the family may do so at the home of Raymond Williams, Panhandle Road in the Stoney Creek Community of Elizabethton.

    The family would like to especially thank the staff of Vanderbilt University Medical Center for the loving care shown to Shelby during her stay.
