    John Carson Rupard, 74, Rt 1, died at his residence Wednesday 7:30 am after an illness of two years. Mr. Rupard was a native of Ashe County, N C., but had made his home in Johnson County the greater part of his life.

    He was a veteran of World War I, a retired farmer and a son of the late Wiley and Amanda Waters Rupard. He was a member and deacon of the Corinth Baptist Church.

    Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Rose E Rupard, Laurel Bloomery; two sons Herbert H, Taylor's Valley, Va. and Burley Dean, Laurel Bloomery; six daughters, Grace Rupard of the home , Mrs Earline Campbell, Damascus Va., Mrs. Beulah Robinson and Mrs. Hazel Noland, both of Mountain City, Mrs. Margaret Lewis, Bristol and Mrs. Shirley Winters, Hickory NC; two brothers, General Rupard, Corner Rock Va. and Scott Rupard, Laurel Bloomery ; four sisters, Fada Rupard and Mrs. Jeston Jenkins, both of-Bristol, Mrs. Racheal Eastridge, Mountain City and Mrs. Delta Eastridge, Laurel Bloomery and 12 grandchildren.

    Grace Edna Rupard, age 91, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, died December 27, 2013. She was born on December 4, 1922.

    Grace was employed at the Damascus Hosiery Mill for 33 years and was the Secretary for the Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency in Mountain City for 25 years. Grace loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens and enjoyed being outside. She also enjoyed a good game of golf. She was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church.

    Grace is survived by her sisters: Margaret Lewis and husband Wayne and Beulah Robinson; very special sister-in-law, Janet Rupard; brother: Herbert ‘Hoover' Rupard and wife Doris; nieces and nephews: Jeff Rupard and wife Melissa, Jon Rupard and wife Kelly, Cindy Cretsinger-Heck and husband Bill, Hilda Robinson, Sandy Ward, Pam Savery, Cathy Canody, Ronnie Campbell, Terry Lewis, Allen Lewis, Phil Winters and Gary Winters; special great nephew and great niece, Kaleb and Channie Cretsinger; several more special great nieces and great nephews; special caregivers: Angie Fletcher, Diane Dunn and Mary McFadden; special pet, Oliver; special neighbors: Terry and Ruth Thomas; special friend, Leola Crowder and many more special friends and neighbors.

    In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her sisters: Shirley Jean Winters, Hazel Noland and Earleen Campbell; brother, Bobby D. ‘Burley' Rupard; brothers-in-law, Vaughn Robinson, Paul Winters and Hubert Campbell; niece, Ann Wiggins; nephew, Sam Noland, and special friend, Bill Moore.

    Funeral services were held at the Mountain City Funeral Home, officiated by Pastors Tom Prater and Warren Stewart. Interment in the Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, Virginia.

    Pallbearers were Benny Rupard, Terry Thomas, Ronnie Campbell, Eric Taylor, Terry Lewis, Bill Heck and Frankey Shupe.

    Honorary Pallbearers were Allen Lewis, Gary Winters, Phil Winters, Paul Blevins, Kenny Icenhour, Jim Neely, Evan Taylor, Brian Taylor, Dr. William Mark Handy, Lee Hawkins, John Greer, Doug Canody and Zachary Canody.

    Margaret Rupard Lewis, age 88, of Bristol, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born March 8, 1932 in Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., a daughter of the late John Carson and Rosie Farris Rupard. Margaret lived most of her life in the Bristol area. She was a member of Central Holston Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Jackson Lewis.

    Survivors include her sons, Terry Lewis, John Alan Lewis and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Christy Dickison and husband Larry, Melissa Thomas and husband Justin, Chris Lewis and wife Kimberly, and Charles “Chuck” Lewis; great granddaughters, Karisse Dickison, Callie Dickison and Addyson Thomas; sister, Beulah Robinson; brother, Hoover Rupard and wife Doris; and several nieces and nephews.

    The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2020 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steve Page officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Va. Special thanks to the BRMC staff on 2 West, ICU, ER, and hospice.

    Mr. Bobby Dean Rupard of 1146 Waters Road Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 27, 2011. Bobby Dean "Burley" Rupard, age 73 of Laurel Bloomery, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 27, 2011, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Rupard was a native of Johnson County and son of the late John C. and Rosa Rupard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rupard was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Shirley Jean Winters, two other sisters, Hazel Noland and Earleen Campbell.

    Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Janet Shupe Rupard of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Dean Rupard and wife, Melissa Rupard, of Laurel Bloomery, TN, Jonathan Bobby Rupard and wife, Kelly Rupard, of Mountain City, TN; one daughter, Cynthia Rupard-Cretsinger of Laurel Bloomery, TN; and two grandchildren, Kaleb and Channie Cretsinger of Laurel Bloomery, TN. Siblings include Grace Rupard, Laurel Bloomery, TN, Margaret Lewis and husband, Wayne Lewis, of Bristol, TN, Beulah Robinson and the late Vaughn Robinson of Mountain City, TN, Herbert Rupard and wife, Doris Rupard, of Laurel Bloomery, TN; a special niece, Cathy Canody of Abingdon, VA and several nieces and nephews.

    He was retired from Levi Strauss & Co. after 38 years of service. He was a proud grandfather and his grandchildren, Kaleb and Channie were the light of his life. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Laurel Bloomery, TN where he loved his church and church family. Bobby loved to farm and he enjoyed doing that most with his two sons. He was also an avid gardener. Everyone who met him loved him and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

    A celebration of life was held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Thomas Prater officiating; special music by Kerry Gentry. The family received friends prior to services beginning at 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Graveside services immediately followed in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA. At all other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Bobby and Janet Rupard.

    Pallbearers were Bill Heck, Terry Thomas, Eric Taylor, Brian Taylor, Doug Canody, Ronnie Campbell, Benny Rupard, and Bob Heck.
