    ROAN MOUNTAIN - June Odom Whitehead, 90, Roan Mountain, passed away at the Waters of Roan Highlands on Sunday January 19, 2020.

    June was the daughter of the late Thomas and Laura Barnett Odom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Byrl Whitehead, two daughters, Sherrye Reine and Yvonne Whitehead and one granddaughter, Beth Reine Holloway. She was also preceded by one sister, Florence Odom Stevens and two brothers, Ford and Clyde Odom.

    June was a homemaker and worked with the Girl Scouts in Hampton, TN and Taylor, MI for 14 years. June was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church where she worked with the youth. In past years she was a member of Sunset Freewill Baptist Church where she taught the Ladies Sunday School Class.

    She is survived by a grandson, Brett Reine and wife Rebecca Reine of Jacksonville, NC and six great grandchildren, Logan Reine, Sloane Reine, Hunter Reine, Isabel Reine, Brick David Reine and Thomas Holloway. She is also survived by her caregivers and son-on-law, Tom Reine and wife Vanessa Reine. There are several nieces and nephews and one special niece Delores Honeycutt.

    Funeral Services for June Whitehead will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 25 at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Jean Irick & Tom Reine. Pallbearers will be selected from family members.

    June married Byrl Whitehead about 1950. Byrl (son of Dayton Wood Whitehead and Mollie Ingram) was born on 16 Dec 1923 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 8 Nov 2015 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.     ROAN MOUNTAIN - Yvonne Kay Whitehead, 63, of Roan Mountain, TN went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 22, 2017 after a battle with cancer.

    Yvonne was born on August 16, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. She is the daughter of June Whitehead and the late Byrl Whitehead. She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Taylor, Michigan where she resided for several years before joining the Army in 1978 where she received Medical Lab Assistance Training. She retired from Michigan Correctional Facility.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Byrl Whitehead, one sister V. Sherrye Reine and one niece, Beth Reine.


    She is survived by her mother June Whitehead, Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Vanessa Reine, nephews, Britt Reine and Thomas Holloway and several aunts, uncle and cousins, and special friends Terry Catt and Vicky Curtise.

    She was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church where she enjoyed her church duties.
