MORRISTOWN - Dennis “Denny” Williams, 62, of Morristown, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at Fort Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville after complications from a stroke.

He was a native of Johnson City, but had lived in Morristown for the past 20 years. He was the son of Evelyn Hammett Williams and the late Carl C. Williams, Sr.

Denny was born March 13, 1957. In August of 1958 he survived a severe case of polio. He was able to live a happy, successful life. He graduated from Science Hill High School, East Tennessee State University with a BS degree, and earned an Associates degree from Northeast State. Denny worked many jobs including several with Johnson City Parks and Recreation, and an extended stay at McGuffon Truss, Inc., in Morristown. He was very skilled as a Computer Assisted Draftsman. At the time of his death, he was assisting with drawing house plans. Denny took great pride in “doing a good job”.

He was an avid sports fan and took special pleasure in following the Atlanta Braves, college basketball, and the George Pitts’ Science Hill Hilltoppers. Denny was also an ardent local amateur-softball fan. He assisted coaching one team to a State Championship.

His greatest pleasure was spending time with his many friends and family members. Gary Bailey, Bill Anderson, Robert “Al” Hamlett, Bill Blankenship, Sonny Heiges, Linda “Butch” Beaver, Henry Marable, Scott Cradic, and Pat Story were among some of the best. Family members include his siblings, countless cousins, and especially in recent times, Jerry and Kelly Williams. Special Morristown friends included, Mark and JoAnne Horner, and Pastor Robert Carpenter of the Lakemoore Church of God of Prophecy (Denny’s home church).

In addition to his father, Denny was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Frank Fisher, several aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and quite a few friends.

Those left to cherish Denny’s memory include his mother, Evelyn H. Williams, siblings and their spouses: Carl, Jr. and Judy Williams, Gary and Pam Williams, Karen and David Taylor, Robin Fisher Curtis and Ron Curtis; several nieces and nephews include: Trey, Todd, Traci, Mike, Craig, Jaime, Mathew, Carla, Keith, Denny, and Chris; a host of grand-nephews and great-nieces, and his special buddy, Caleb Daniels.

The family will greet friends to share memories from 5:00 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 until a Celebration of Denny’s life at 7:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City with Pastor Robert Carpenter and Dr. Wayne Emery officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
