    JOHNSON CITY - Naomi Virginia Woods, 81, Johnson City, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 1, 2019.

    Mrs. Woods was born in Red Hill, NC to the late Carl R. and Lizzie Hoilman Hughes.

    She was a clerk at the ETSU bookstore for many years and a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church.

    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, Larry D. Woods; and two brothers, Robert and Everett W. Hughes.

    Survivors include: one son, Randy Woods; two grandchildren, Laura Ashley Wright and Matthew David Woods; two great grandchildren, Liam and Silas Wright; one sister, Betty Leonard; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Woods and Brenda Honeycutt.

    The family of Mrs. Woods will receive friends from 5 PM until 6 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Morris-Baker. The funeral will follow at 6 PM with Pastor Tommy Clark officiating. Pallbearers include: Matthew Woods, Brian Hughes, Curtis Hughes, Andy Wyatt, Ben Hagy, Greg Leonard and Mike Leonard. The committal service will be held Thursday at 11 AM. Family and friends are asked to meet at Monte Vista Memorial Park by 10:50 AM.

    Notes:

    Robert "Ronnie" Hughes, 70 of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. A native of Johnson City he is the son of the late Carl and Lizzie Hughes. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Everett Hughes.

    Ronnie graduated from Happy Valley High School before graduating from Steed College with a degree in business. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and worked with Warner-Lambert, retiring in 1994. Ronnie was a member of Fairview Baptist church and enjoyed restoring old cars, camping and sports. Ronnie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be missed by many.

    Those left to cherish Ronnie's memory include: wife of 45 years, Cathy; sons, Bryan Hughes (Jill) and Curtis Hughes (Carolee); grandchildren, Landry and Laynee Kate Hughes; siblings, Virginia Woods and Betty Leonard; and several nieces and nephews.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Veterans Administration Staff.

    A Committal service and interment will take place at Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Gary Roe officiating and military honors. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM. Pallbearers will be Andy Savage, Joey Savage, Ethan Savage, Randy Woods, Matthew Woods, Gary Chapman, Lee Wamsley, and Allen Torbett.
