    Ricky Eugene Braswell, 62, of 215 E. Mill Street, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness. Rick was born in Carter County to the late Thelma Cannon Braswell and Zebby Gene Braswell. After graduating from Elizabethton High School in 1979, he attended East Tennessee State University majoring in Engineering. In 1981 he married the love of his life, Marcia Montgomery Braswell, and had three children, Jennifer Braswell, Jason Braswell and Nathaniel “Blake” Braswell. Rick was a Journeyman Carpenter and Superintendent/Estimator for several large construction firms. He was of the Baptist faith. Rick enjoyed spending time with his grandson Noah and his family and NASCAR racing and golfing. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Oma Cannon and James and Myrtle Braswell; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and mother-in-law, Bonnie Montgomery. Those left to cherish his memory include wife, Marcia Braswell; daughter, Jennifer; sons, Jason and Blake; grandson, Noah Braswell; sisters, Teresa Cochran, Tina Wyatt, and sister and family Lisa, Ronny and Taylor Byars; sister-in-law, Tami Peters and family, John, Haley, Laurel and River; as well as several special cousins, aunts, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Rick’s residence on Sunday, May 7, from 2 until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the family to help with expenses.
