Vada P. Eggers, age 85, of Damascus, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Mrs. Eggers was born in Rock Creek, N.C., a daughter of the late James and Janie Roark Potter, and lived in Damascus most of her life.
She was the widow of the Rev. I. Blaine Eggers and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Glade Spring. She was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Lavone) Widener and Mrs. Bert (Brenda) Snodgrass, both of Damascus; two sisters, Ella Price of West Jefferson, N.C., and Mary Buchanan of Mountain City, Tenn.; three grandsons, Scottie Widener, Travis Dyson and Brent Dyson; one great-grandson, Tyler Widener; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Widener; granddaughter-in-law, Robin Widener; several nieces and nephews; sons-in-law, Dennis Widener and Bert Snodgrass.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. in Pleasant View Baptist Church with Herman Widener, the Rev. Carl Wilson, the Rev. Tim Stevens and the Rev. Roger Boyer officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus.

Nevada married Rev. Ivan Blaine Eggers about 1938. Ivan (son of Cartie Eggers and Lillie Bell Guy) was born on 10 Mar 1917 in , Watauga County, North Carolina, North Carolina; died on 20 Dec 1996 in Washington County, , , Virginia; was buried in Sunset Memorial Park, , Washington County, Virginia. Joyce Magdalene Potter Johnson was called home on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at her home with her dear niece Michelle Treadway by her side. Joyce was born December 2, 1941 in Creston, NC to the late Mason Lee Potter and Cazzie Crenice Roark Potter. Joyce attended Baptist Home Church and Corinth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years James Johnson; her sisters Deanna Potter Johnson and Sue Potter Treadway; brothers-in-law Jimmy Calvin Graybeal, Clifford Treadway and Robert Johnson. Also she was preceded in death by her family-in-law Margaret Glenn, Lois Lipford, Cecil Johnson and John Johnson. She worked for and retired from Hanes after 30 plus years. Prior to that she worked for Kennit Canning and Jennersville rose gardens. Joyce also worked on newspapers and enjoyed yard sales, flea markets and gardening.

Survivors include: niece and caregiver Michelle Lynn Treadway; sister Marilyn Potter Graybeal; nieces Terri Graybeal, Tarriana Osborne and Deloris Taylor; nephews Greg Graybeal, Michael Potter, Shane Blevins, Bobby Carpenter, Tony Johnson, Ricky Osborne and Chad Blevins; sister-in-law Mae Johnson. Several other nieces and nephews and special friend Betty Ann Davis also survive.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021 in Johnson Potter Cemetery with Rev. Billy Morefield officiating. Pallbearers were Greg Graybeal, Michael Potter, Shane Blevins, Ricky Osborne, Mason Osborne, Cole Blevins, Gavin Blevins, Malachi Osborne and Chad Blevins. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Johnson, Keith Johnson and Gary Johnson.

Hurbbie James Potter, age 77, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at his home. He was born August 30, 1942 to the late Madison and Ruby Potter. Hurbbie is also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Potter, January 24, 2018, daughter, Gina Potter and brother, Gerald Potter.

Hurbbie's favorite hobbies included trading and collecting all kinds of different things. He loved to go arrowhead hunting and being a tool and die maker.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Tina Osborne; sons, Dale Potter and Timmy Potter and wife LeeAnn; sisters, Linda Reavis and Betty Caldwell; brothers, David Potter and Joey Potter; grandchildren, Sharley French, Shelby Potter, Kelsey Potter, Austin Osborne, Amanda Potter, Sydni Potter and Emily Potter; great grandchildren, Issabella, Amillia and Tristan Eckert; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Mountain City Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Minister Buddy Morefield and Dwayne Dickson will be officiating with pallbearers; Jimmy Garr, Randy Garr, Ricky Garr, Randy Thomas, Jamie Thomas, and Sam Thomas

A graveside service will immediately follow at Reece Cemetery, Mountain City, TN.
