    Allen Robert Parlier, 75, of Morganton went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 29, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Avery County, NC on July 25, 1939, he was the son of the late Virgil Hurbert Parlier and Lounette Cook Bollinger. Allen was a member of Drexel Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served with honor in the U.S. Army as a sharp shooter and retired from Drexel Heritage. After his retirement he worked for Ace Hardware and Parker Plumbing.

    Mr. Parlier is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda McKinney Parlier; children, Chris Parlier and his wife, Lorrie, of Morganton, Freddie Parlier and his wife, Tammy, of Carolina Beach, NC, and Patricia Dawn Hang and her husband, Bee, of Morganton; grandchildren, Tyler Parlier and his wife, Ashley, Dana Parlier, Devin Mosteller, Lofton Parlier, Megan Parlier, Katie Parlier, Theron Poteet, Chloe Poteet, and Hannah Tia Hang; and brothers, Rev. Wendell Parlier, Tommy Parlier, Charles Parlier, Chuckie Parlier, and Rev. Billy Bollinger.

    In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Braelynn Saige Parlier.

    The family will receive friends Monday, June 1, 2015 at Drexel Memorial Baptist Church from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Andrew Dalton and the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens in Spruce Pine.

    Pastor Wendell C. Parlier, 74, of Morganton, NC went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, October 13, 2016 after a brief illness. Born in Avery County, NC on January 2, 1942, he was the son of the late Virgil Herbert Parlier and Lounette Cook Parlier Bollinger. Wendell worked at Drexel Heritage Furniture for many years before being called to serve the Lord. During his years as pastor he ministered at Laurel Hill Baptist Church, Community Baptist Church, McDowell Church, and finally Freedom Baptist Church, from which he retired after 24 years. Pastor Parlier loved and was loved by all; he never met a stranger.

    Wendell is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy "Dot" Wilson Parlier of the home; daughters, Thressia Benfield and her husband, Keith, and Sherry Yates and her husband, Billy, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Amanda Reynolds and her husband, Steve, Brandi Anthony, Josh Jubin and his wife, Gina, and Jereme Jubin; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Nathan, Molly, Sarah, Samantha, Katelin, Briar, Hunter, Maddox, and Emmarie; brothers, Tommy Parlier, Charles Parlier, Chuck Parlier, and Rev. Billy Bollinger and his wife, Sharon, all of Morganton; and a sister-in-law, Linda Parlier.

    In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Parlier.

    The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at Freedom Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles "Bud" Harmon, the Rev. Lloyd Harris, and the Rev. Douglas Woody officiating. Burial will follow at Big Crabtree Cemetery in Mitchell County.

    Tommy was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church and retired from Henredon Furniture with 42 years of service. He loved to help in the church missions.

    Tommy is survived by his son, Thomas Parlier (Donna) of Morganton; granddaughter, Elisabeth Parlier; brothers, Charles and Chuck Parlier, both of Morganton; stepbrother, the Rev. Billy Bollinger; and a number of nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Sue E. Whisenant Parlier; and brothers, Wendell and Allen Parlier.

    The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm., Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
