    JONESBOROUGH - J. Ray "Junior" Ward, 92, of Jonesborough, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Neva, TN and son of the late Thomas Wheeler and Dora Lea Forrester Ward.

    In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his sons: David Ray Ward, Werner Kempinger, and his first wife Bula Elliott Ward.

    Junior proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Scottish Right. He was employed by General Shale and Chuck Mason Trucking. Junior was of the Baptist faith and attended Bethel Baptist Church.

    Those left to cherish Junior's memory include his loving wife of 43 years, Helen Marie Devoti Ward, daughter Marlene Carr and her husband Wayne, step-sons: Dennis and Randy Brown; grandchildren: Tony Carr, David Ward, and Petra Eppinger; great-grandchildren: Tony Carr, Lucas and Robert Eppinger; sister Charlotte Hamby, brother James Ward, nieces Terri and Karen, nephews Bobby and Scotty, and special friend from church Tamee Tweed.

    The family will greet friends to share memories on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 5:00 pm until a Celebration of Junior's life at 6:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City with Pastor Jim Perkins officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday at Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Tony Carr, Tony Carr II, Bobby Hamby, Earl Henley and Caleb Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be James Ward, Robert Hamby, Kent Walker, Eddie, Chuck, Dale, Greg and Brett Mason, and all Junior's friends from the Masonic Lodge.

    Junior married Beulah Elliott on 1 Oct 1947 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Beulah (daughter of David J. "Dave" Elliott and Alice Williams) was born on 15 Jul 1924 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 8 Oct 1975 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.
