Loveta Shipley

Loveta Pleasant, age 78, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with her heavenly father at her residence on Monday, May 28, 2012. She was born on April 10, 1934 to the late Clyde and Lilly Pearl Wilson Shipley. In addition to her parents, Loveta was preceded in death by her husband Estel Guy Pleasant; sons, Douglas Pleasant and Wendell Pleasant; brothers: Dan Shipley, Roy Shipley, James Porter Shipley and John Shipley.
Loveta loved being outdoors and working in her flowers beds and garden. She also loved to sew and cook. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Loveta is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Mildred and Joe Eastridge of Butler, TN, Sharon and Doug Merryman of Elizabethton, TN and Jacqueline and Larry Thomas, also of Elizabethton, TN; sons and daughter-in-law: Anthony and Kathy Pleasant of Mountain City, TN and Norman Pleasant, also of Mountain City, TN; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her family at Calvary Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Spencer and Rev. Frank Woods to officiate.
Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 from the Phillippi Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are: Joey Eastridge, Jamie Eastridge, Daniel Merryman, Jonathan Pleasant and friends and family. Honorary Pallbearers are Members of Calvary Baptist Church.

Loveta married Estel Guy Pleasant about 1951 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Estel (son of Benjamin Harrison Pleasant and Nina Lowe) was born on 22 Feb 1927 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 31 Mar 1979; was buried in Phillippi Cemetery, Highway 421, Johnson County, Tennessee. It is with great sadness that the family of Norman Craig Pleasant announces his passing on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at his residence at the age of 62. Norman was born in Johnson County, Tennessee, on May 3, 1959. He was the son of the late Estel Pleasant and Loveta Shipley Pleasant. He was also proceeded in death by two brothers, Doug and Wendell Pleasant.
Norman was a carpenter, loved lawn work, being in the outdoors, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters; Priscilla Lowe (Matthew), Brittany Evans (Gary), three sisters; Mildred Eastridge (Joe), Sharon Merryman (Doug), and Jackie Thomas (Larry), a brother; Anthony Pleasant (Kathy), seven grandchildren; Brayden, Bryson, and Piper Lowe, Paislee, Violet, CoraLeigh, and Millie Evans, close friends; Angie Johnson and Cheryl Ann Lindsey, his one true love and the mother of his children; Tammy Cress Arnold. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A graveside service for Norman will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Phillippi Cemetery with his Brother Anthony Pleasant to officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home and then go in procession for the graveside service.
His pallbearers will be; Matthew Lowe, Gary Evans, Joe Eastridge, Doug Merryman, Larry Thomas, Joey Eastridge, Paul Johnson, and Steven Puddy Pardue.
