    Lewis D. Rasnick, 79, 232 Carr Hollow Road, Bluff City, died Sunday, February 27, 2000, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Hospital, Mountain Home, following a lengthy illness.

    Mr. Rasnick was a native of Dante, Va., and had lived in East Tennessee since 1946. He was a son of the late Thomas Daniel and Viola O'Quinn Rasnick and was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas D. Rasnick; six brothers, Neal, Calvin, Ed, Jim, Dave and Dewey; and three sisters, Marie Kiser, Helen Cagle and Mae Bullock.

    Mr. Rasnick was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation with 36 years of service and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.

    Survivors include his wife, Reba Cross Rasnick, of the home; two sons, Freddie Rasnick, Elizabethton, and Johnny Williams, Blountville; three daughters, Pam Gillian, Yadkinville, N.C., Teresa Sheppard, Watauga, and Margaret Robbins, Sun Valley, Nev.; three brothers, Lawrence Rasnick and Earl Rasnick, both of Elizabethton, and William Rasnick, Watauga; and a sister, Alice Largent, Elizabethton. Eleven grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

    RASNICK -- Funeral services for Lewis D. Rasnick, 79, 232 Carr Hollow Road, Bluff City, who died Sunday, February 27, 2000, will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 29, at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Jordan and Rev. Avery Lynch officiating. Music will be by Eleanor Leonard and the Sacred Harmony Trio. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, in the Garden of Devotion at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Danny Sheppard, Doug Rasnick, Chris Sheppard, Brian Sheppard, Michael Shipley, Tommy Shipley, Junior McAninch and Steven Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Rasnick, Junior Rasnick, Anthony Rasnick, Greg Rasnick, Jay Buckles, Ronnie Rasnick, David Rasnick, Keith McAninch, W.C. Rasnick, Bobby Rasnick, Jeff Rasnick, Mike Rasnick, Tim Rasnick and members of Fairview Baptist Church and Calvary Memorial Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and doctors at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Hospital, Mountain Home.

    Lewis married Reba Mae Cross about 1942 in , , Tennessee, . Reba (daughter of Sam Lee Cross and Venie Fox) was born about 1924 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee; died on 5 Nov 1922 in , Washington County, Tennessee, ; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, Carter County, Tennessee, .     Notes:

    Our dear mother, Loretta Cagle Kyte, Elizabethton, passed peacefully on December 17, 2022 at Ballad Hospice House, Bristol, at the age of 79, after a brief illness. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was always there when anyone needed her. She had many friends and relatives that she loved very much. She was born on January 22, 1943 in Elizabethton to the late Carl and Helen Rasnick Cagle. She lived all her life in Elizabethton and worked for the Elizabethton School System. She graduated from Elizabethton High School.
    Loretta attended West Side Christian Church and was of the Christian Faith. To know Loretta, you know how she was proud to be a Christian and lived by her faith. She loved going to the Senior Center every week and loved everyone there.
    Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. Kyte, and step-son, Dennis Kyte.
    Left to cherish her memories are her children, Jeff (Penni) Kyte of Elizabethton and Melanie (Scott) Whaley of Johnson City; her grandchildren, Kasey (Chris) Carpenter, Abby (Andrew) Martin, Holly (Logan) Clifton, Leah (Brent) Smith, Jordan Jackson, Jon Carver, Haley (Cody) Jewell, Brittini Adams, Amanda Sturgill, Alesha Kyte and Sarah Cross; four sisters, Joyce Ann Sullivan of Johnson City, Maggie Elchelberg of Michigan City, Ind., Sadie Kelsey of Farmville, Va., and Dora Malone of Elizabethton; two brothers, Wayne Cagle and Darrell Cagle of Elizabethton; four great-grandchildren whom she adored; and several nieces, nephews and all her friends that she loved.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, at West Side Christian Church with Dr. Greg Key and Mr. Ken Bewley, ministers, officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
