    Notes:

    Emmett Walter Greene, age 86, of Watauga, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was the son of the late James Roby and Nola Cook Greene and was born in Elk Park, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Walter Greene; his first wife, Marion Johnson Greene; his second wife, Kathryn Houston Greene; three brothers, Dayton Greene; Floyd Greene and George Greene; and one sister, Nancy Greene Burton.

    Mr. Greene was a retired postal worker and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Roan Mountain where he served as a deacon. He was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II.

    Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Allan, of the home; one step-daughter, Mardelle Gregg and her husband, Pete, of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Rebecca Corrigan of Newland, NC; Sarah Bonsall and her husband, John, of Orlando, FL; Susan Ayers and her husband, John, of Woodbridge, VA; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Hazel Chambers of Roan Mountain; Lucy Guinn of Elizabethton; Ruth Webb of Piney Flats; Norma Jean Arnett of Roan Mountain; Mary Lou McKinney of North Carolina; five brothers, James Greene, Jr. of Indiana; Jake "Dallas" Greene of Roan Mountain; Dickie Greene of Roan Mountain; Steward Greene of Bloomingdale, MI and Harold Greene of North Carolina. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

    The funeral service for Mr. Green will be conducted on Saturday, March 24th at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Jerry Honeycutt officiating. Music will be under the direction of No Name But His. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Saturday prior to the service and at the residence at other times.

    The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 25th at the Hampton Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Pete Gregg, Cameron Ayers, Mike Mills, Paul Smith, Jim Perkins, Tommy Shell and Johnny Palmer. Billy Corrigan will serve as honorary pallbearer.

    Hazel Rose Chambers, age 94, of Roan Mountain, TN passed away January 01, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Avery County, NC to the late James and Nola Cook Greene. Hazel was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. She retired from TRW Electronic. Hazel loved gardening, canning food, animals, and helping people. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam McKinney and second husband, Tennessee Chambers; daughter, Lynn Weaver; step-son, William David Chambers and several brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish her memories are her sons, James McKinney, of Roan Mountain, Calvin Wayne McKinney and wife Katheryn, of Elizabethton; step-son, Leonard Chambers, of Roan Mountain; two daughters, Robertta Brown and husband Mitchell and Rita Watts and husband Lucky, all of Roan Mountain; two brothers, Stuard and Harold; three sisters, Ruth, Mary Lou and Norma Jean; grandchildren, Robin, David, Andrew, Laura, Michelle, Tiffany, Eric, Glenn, Dwayne, Summer and Lacie; several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.

    ROAN MOUNTAIN - Dickie Green, age 89, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital.

    Dickie was born at his home in Roan Mountain to the late James and Ethel Potter Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Burton; and five brothers, James Green, Jr., Emmett Green, Dayton Green, George Green and Jake Green.

    Dickie was a very quiet, humble, selfless, meek man that loved his family dearly. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Roan Mountain for the past nine years. Dickie was a United States Army veteran, having served for two years during the Korean Conflict. Following the service he retired from the Tennessee Highway Department (TDOT). Dickie enjoyed gardening, watching Kentucky basketball, HGTV, the Gaithers and Reverend Charles Stanley.

    Those left to continue his legacy and cherish his wonderful memory include his wife of fifty four years, Carolyn Ann Brown Green, of the home; one daughter, Mary Ann Estep and husband Mike, of Roan Mountain; one son, Teddy Allen Green and wife Jennifer, of Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Monica Condrey and husband Phillip, Hunter Green and Taylor Green; one great granddaughter, Emma Kate Condrey; two brothers, Goldman (Stewart) Green and wife Joann, of MI and Harold Green and wife Barbara, of Plumtree, NC; five sisters, Hazel Chambers, of Roan Mountain, Lucy Guinn, of Elizabethton, Ruth Webb, of Piney Flats, Mary Lou McKinney and husband R.C., of Plumtree, NC and Norma Jean Arnett, of Roan Mountain; a sister-in-law, Shirley Shell and husband T.J.; and a special friend, Garrett Birchfield and wife Kaytlyn.

    A service to honor the life of Dickie Green will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Roan Mountain with Rev. Clarence Phillips, Rev. Hunter Green and Rev. Geren Street, officiating. Garrett Birchfield will provide music. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the church, prior to the service on Sunday.

    The graveside service will follow in the Bowling Family Cemetery in Roan Mountain with Rev. Geren Street, officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Garrett Birchfield, Billy Brown, Phillip Condrey, Todd Markland, Johnny Markland, Mack Greene and Ralph Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be T. J. Shell, R.C. McKinney, members of Andrew Sunday School and the past and present employees of TDOT.

    ELIZABETHTON - Lucy Guinn, age 87, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord and those who went before her on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from her residence.

    Lucy was born in Carter County to the late James and Ethel Potter Green. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Billy Joe Guinn; a son, Bill Allen Guinn; two daughters, Kathy Hardin and Linda Sommers; four brothers, Emmett Green, James Jr. Green, Dickie Green and Dallas Green; one sister, Nancy Burton; and a brother-in-law, Bennie Webb.

    Lucy was a loving, Christian woman who loved everyone. She shown her light of love on all those around her. Lucy was a member of Upper Gap Creek Free Will Baptist Church and had been an employee of Volunteer Blind Industries. She enjoyed gardening, canning, making pies, cooking, spending time with her family and fellowship with her church.

    Those left to cherish her memories include two daughters, Brenda Hardin and Jean Bradley (Robbie), all of Elizabethton; two brothers, Harold Green (Barbara), of North Carolina and Steward Green (Katherine), of Michigan; four sisters, Ruth Webb, of Piney Flats, Mary Lou McKinney (R.C.), of North Carolina, Norma Jean Arnett and Hazel Chambers, both of Roan Mountain; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    A service to honor and celebrate the life of Lucy Guinn will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 16, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Dale Blevins, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Monday or at the residence of Lucy, at other times.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Claude Hart, Glenn Henegar, Thomas Markland and Allen Parlier.
