    Tucker, GA – Thelma Merritt Gentry, 92, of Tucker, GA, passed away Thursday morning, November 6, 2014 at North Lake Garden Assisted Living, Tucker, GA.

    She was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee, was a former resident of Kingsport and Johnson City and had lived in Tucker, GA for the past 2 years.

    Mrs. Gentry was a member of First Christian Church, Johnson City and enjoyed reading, music and spending time with her family. She was involved with Girl Scouts as a leader and volunteer for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

    Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Peg" Gentry; son-in-law, Bill Poe, sisters, Louise Shell, Margaret Sheridan, and Juanita Gray and brother, Jack Merritt.

    Surviving are her, daughter, Barbara Poe; grandchildren, Kevin Poe and Karen Geeter; great grandchildren, Kevin Geeter, Eric Geeter, Tashi Poe, Kyla Poe, Davin Poe, Katie Geeter; brother, Max Merritt (and Annette) of Knoxville; nephew, Bernie Gray, Jr.(and Helen) of Johnson City and several nieces and nephews.

    A Mausoleum Committal Service will be conducted at 1:30 pm Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Oak Hill I Mausoleum with Tim Wallingford, Minister, officiating.

    Thelma married Paul Elbert Gentry about 1945 in , Giles County, Tennessee, . Paul (son of James Elbert Gentry and Elizabeth Holly) was born on 3 Aug 1921 in Greene County, , , Tennessee; died on 28 May 2000 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Oak Hill Memorial Park, , Sullivan County, Tennessee.
