Alice V. Joines, age 81, of Mountain City, Tennessee, and formerly of Ashe County, North Carolina, died August 7, 2013 at the Johnson County Community Hospital. She was born on May 24, 1932.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by sisters: Margaret Counts, Frances Fischer and Ella Mae Vaught; brothers: Bruce Vaught and Dale Vaught.
Alice was a 1950 Graduate of Johnson County High School. She loved to work with flowers and all types of crafts. Alice also enjoyed working alongside her husband, Herbert, on their farm. She was a member of Big Laurel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and helped with Bible School for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Herbert Joines; daughters and son-in-law: Diana and Dennis Pennington of Mountain City, TN and Deborah Joines of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters: Naomi Smith of Memphis, TN and Mildred Lowe of Mountain City, TN; sisters-in-law: Nannie Vaught, Kate Vaught, Mary Lee McCoy, JoAnn Arnold and husband Leavie and Viola Joines; brother-in-law, Charlie Joines and wife Judy; special friend, Lois Greer and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at the Mountain City Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Steven Spencer. Interment at the Sunset Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers were Chad Joines, Dwight Brooks, Mike Joines, Van Arnold, Jack Mccoy, Jeff Roten and Lew Silver. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Hammons and Bill McCoy.
Alice married Herbert Hoover Joines on 13 Jun 1950 in Wilkes County, , , North Carolina. Herbert (son of Walter Daniel Joines and Della Rupard) was born on 5 Oct 1928 in Ashe County, , , North Carolina; died on 12 Sep 2019 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Sunset Memorial Park, , Johnson County, Tennessee.
