Funeral services for Mrs. W. E. DeLoach, wife of the clerk of the courts of Pierce county, who died Tuesday afternoon at 6 o'clock in a Waycross hospital following an illness of several weeks, were held from the Blackshear Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, with Dr. C. C. Long, pastor, and the Rev. H. L. Dixon of Patterson, officiating.

Burial was in the Blackshear cemetery, and the following nephews served as active pallbearers.

J. B. Griner, A. B. Griner, Alfred Roberts, Leon Roberts, Jr., Dr. S. T. Johnson, W. D. Carswell and Shelton Milligan.

Honorary pallbearers were: L. P. Grainger, L. E. Sweat, Dr. L. M. Hawkins, S. A. Griffis, P. M. Woodall, E. W. Tyler, J. Q. James, D. R. James, C. A. Morel, J. L. Richardson, E. L. Tuten and L. W. Peacock.

Surviving Mrs. DeLoach are her husband, four daughters, Mrs. T. M. Colley, Mary Lou, Carolyn and Dallas Norene DeLoach; six sons, W. T., Dorris, Bernell, Ray, Edsel and Gerald DeLoach; two sisters, Mrs. W. D. Milligan of Savannah and Mrs. Millard Johnson, of Blackshear; two brothers, L. B. Roberts and J. L. Roberts.

Mrs. DeLoach was 41 years of age and a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Roberts, pioneer citizens of Pierce county. She had resided in Blackshear and Pierce county all of his life and was beloved by a large circle of friends. A member of the Blackshear Baptist Church she was faithful in the performance of her duties and held in the highest esteem by members of her faith.

The large attendance of sorrowing friends and relatives and the numerous floral offerings attested the love and friendship which she enjoyed in this community.

Notes:

Mr. Robert Edsel "Ed" Deloach, 82, passed away Saturday morning, October 5, 2013, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Born in Blackshear on September 17, 1931, Mr. Deloach had lived in Hilliard, FL for many years before moving back to Pierce County in 1992. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy and had finished out his retirement by working in the maintenance department at Air Traffic Control in Hilliard, FL. Mr. Deloach was known for being able to fix anything no matter how challenging it may have been.

He was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church where he was a deacon and was in the Adult Men's Sunday school class. Mr. Deloach and his late wife, Mary Chal Stanford Deloach, were former members of Hilliard First Baptist Church and went on several mission trips.
Mr. Deloach enjoyed fox hunting and was a member of The Fox Pen Hunting Club.

He was a son of the late William Evan & Mary Ann Roberts Deloach. In addition to his first wife, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Deloach and Juanita Colley; and also by all six of his brothers, W. T. Deloach, Doris Deloach, Burnell Deloach, Ray Deloach, Jerry Deloach and David Deloach.

Survivors include his wife, Clarice Davis Deloach of Blackshear; a daughter and son-in-law, Micki & Marcus Peagler of Jackson, MS; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby, Jr. & Tina Deloach of Hilliard, FL; two step-daughters, June Lagrue of Brunswick and Lynn Holton of Blackshear; a step-son, Tommy (Jackie) Hinson of Waverly; two sisters, Carolyn (Leo) Marks and Norene (Hershel) Kruise all of Texas; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

Robert married Mary Chal Stanford about 1956. Mary was born on 16 Jan 1937 in Duval County, , , Florida; died on 18 Sep 1992 in Yellowstone County, , , Montana; was buried in Bosque Bella Cemetery, , Nassau County, Florida. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. DeLoach announce the birth of twins, Friday, September 24th. They wish to thank those who were so kind and sympathetic at the death of the little boy. The surviving twin, a girl, is getting along nicely at the Ware County Hospital.
