    Kermit Lane "Bill" Lowe of Telford passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family, on August 13, 2017. He was 96 years old. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Agnes Ratcliff Penick Lowe, step-children Donna Penick (North Hills, CA) and Edward Penick (Roanoke, VA), daughter-in-law Eline Penick (Roanoke, VA), grandchildren Samuel Hartsfield (Portland, OR), Anna Dawahare (Porter Ranch, CA), Tech Sgt John Penick (Okinawa) and Elizabeth Penick (Asheville, NC), five great-grandchildren, niece Pat Lowe Reece, and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Callie Shoun Lowe and Kemp Lowe, five brothers, and four sisters. He was the longest-lived member of the family.

    Bill was born July 8, 1921, and grew up in the Bethel community of Johnson County on a farm originally cleared by his ancestors in the early 1800s. He moved to Carter County and then to Johnson City, where he worked for several furniture and appliance companies. In 1959, he married Agnes Ratcliff Penick, a widow with two young children.

    Bill was driven to have his own business, so in 1968, he started Bill Lowe's Carpet Shop, whose motto was "We measure by the golden rule." After several years in Johnson City, he relocated the business to Jonesborough. Because of his integrity, many area churches and families chose him for their carpet needs. He served his customers well for over 25 years.

    Bill's special interests were family, farm life, Buicks, antique cars, and travel. He and Agnes traveled to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Alaska and most of the lower 48 states.

    Bill and Agnes are faithful members of First Baptist Church in Jonesborough, where he served in different capacities for many years. He was active in the Bowmantown Ruritan and Meals on Wheels. Bill was a faithful and devoted husband, generous to those in need, and much loved by his family.

    Funeral services for Mr. Lowe will be conducted Thursday, August 17, 2017, 1:30 PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. James Harrison officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 12:00 to 1:30 prior to the service.

    Graveside services will follow at Monte Vista Burial Park.

    Richard D. Lowe, age 85, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away at Broadmore Assisted Living on Saturday, January 2 after a short illness.

    Richard was preceded in death by parents, Kemp and Callie Shoun Lowe, and brothers and sisters, Earl, Ned, Nathan, Van, Ruth Chambers, Bess Branch, Grace Hines, and Anna June Lowe, as well as his first wife, Edith Roberts Lowe, who died on June 25, 1990, and second wife, Jean Darr Lowe, who died on November 17, 2008.

    He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Agnes Lowe, Telford, TN; and numerous nephews and nieces, including Patricia Reece, Mountain City, TN; Darryl Lowe, Knoxville, TN; Nathan Lowe, Jr., Bristol, TN, Robert Lowe, Roanoke, VA, Felix Lowe, Bluffton, SC., Elisabeth Munsey, Johnson City, TN, David Lowe, Middleton MA, Donna Penick, Northridge, CA, Eddie Penick, Roanoke, VA and great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

    Richard served with the U.S. Navy in the Second World War from May 13, 1941, until the date of his honorable discharge on October 23, 1945. After discharge from the Navy, Richard worked in Washington D.C. as a commercial painter until he retired and moved to Johnson City. He was very close to his many friends from "the paint store." He loved to travel and sailed on many cruises all around the world. He also enjoyed UT football and tailgating.

    Special recognition to niece Diane Saults and great nieces Lisa Orr and Penny Reece for their devoted love and attention. Also, thanks to the many special people at Broadmore Assisted Living who got to know Richard well in such a short period of time and who provided care for him.

    The family will receive friends on Tuesday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The family will then proceed to Washington County Memory Gardens for graveside services at 2:30 p.m.

    David Norman Lowe, 62, passed away suddenly on Saturday February 3, 2018.

    He was the husband of twenty-three years of Georgie Esposito Lowe and the beloved father of Felicia Annette Lowe.

    David was born in Bristol, Tennessee, on January 6, 1956, son of the late Helen Turner Lowe and Nathan W. Lowe. He is survived by his brothers Robert A. Lowe (Linda); Darryl G. Lowe (Pamela); Nathan W. Lowe, Jr. (Pat Buckles); sister Carol Ann Lowe and beloved nieces and nephews.

    David graduated from East Tennessee State. He began his career at Dillard Paper Company and continued a successful career in wholesale distribution. David was raised in Bristol, Tennessee, and lived with his wife in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Florida, before settling in the Boston area.

    David loved music and taught himself to play the guitar. He was a talented musician with a beautiful tenor voice that would light up a room. He loved vintage cars, motorcycles and long rides on his Harley Davidson Road King. In his early years, he spent time working in his father's machine shop in Tennessee and was a natural at fixing anything mechanical.

    David lived every day with passion and brought that enthusiasm to his family and workplace.

    He was a true Southern gentleman, beloved father, husband and friend. He was most happy playing his guitar surrounded by his family and best friend, his dog, Ozzie.

    A Funeral service will be held on June 23, 2018, at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church 700 Cumberland St, Bristol, VA 24201, at 1pm.
