5. | William Finley O'Dell ![]() Notes: William Finley O'Dell, 59, well known resident of the Central Holston section of Sullivan County, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon in King's Mountain Memorial Hospital, after a lingering illness. Mr. O'Dell is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lillian Bullock O'Dell, and eight children, Leander O'Dell, of Central Holston, Sgt. Albert O'Dell, with the U. S. Army overseas, Pvt. Charles O'Dell, a prisoner of the Japanese, Pfe. Claude O'Dell, Camp Chaffee, Ariz., Pfe. Cecil O'Dell, Seymour Johnson Field, N. C, Mrs. Wade Witcher of Weavers, and Sara Bertha and Nancy Lee O'Dell, of Central Holston. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending the arrival of relatives. William married Lillian Mariah Bullock about 1908 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee. Lillian was born on 29 Jun 1886 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee; died on 16 Mar 1971 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Shipley Cemetery, , Sullivan County, Tennessee. 10. | William Leander O'Dell ![]() Notes: Leander O'Dell, 68, of Rt. 5, Bristol Tennessee, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Bristol Memorial Hospital. Prior to his retirement in 1972, O'Dell served for 42 years in the Sullivan County School System as teacher and also principal at Emmett School and Sunrise School. He was a charter member of Holston Valley Ruritan Club and a member of Central Holston Christian Church where he was an elder. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eileen L. O'Dell; one son, Bill O'Dell, LaCross [sic], Wis.; one daughter, Miss Carol O'Dell, of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Witcher, Bristol, Mrs. Sarah O'Dell, Bluff City, Tenn., Mrs. Nancy Kinchloe, Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles O'Dell and Claude O'Dell, both of Bristol; two grandchildren also survive. William married Eileen Lunsford about 1938 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee. Eileen was born on 18 Jun 1918 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee; died on 22 Dec 2002 in Lee County, , , Florida; was buried in Shipley Cemetery, , Sullivan County, Tennessee. 11. | Charles Henry O'Dell ![]() Notes: Charles Henry O'Dell, 74, Route 5, BristoL, Tenn., died Thursday, Nov. 24, 1988, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tenn. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was held as a P. O. W. He was a retired electrician, having worked at the Monroe Company and Easley Heating Service. He was a member of the Central Holston Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Virginia O'Dell; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Flynn) O'Neal, Bristol Tennessee; one son, Dr. Charles S. O'Dell, Chevy Chase, Md.; one brother, Claude O'Dell, Bristol Tennessee; two sisters, Sarah Bertha O'Dell, Bluff City, and Nancy Lee Kincheloe, Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews Charles married Virginia F. Edens about 1945 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee. Virginia was born about 1911 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee; died on 18 Jun 2001 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Shipley Cemetery, , Sullivan County, Tennessee. 13. | Cecil Andrew O'Dell ![]() Notes: Cecil A. O'Dell, 44. died at his home on Route 3, Bristol Tennessee, Saturday afternoon following a brief illness. He was a member of the Central Holston Christian Church and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 9625, Bluff City, and Hackler Wood American Legion Post. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Easterly O'Dell; a son, Bobby O'Dell; a daughter, Miss Donna O'Dell, all ofthe home; his mother, Mrs. Lillian Bullock O'Dell, Bristol; four brothers, Leander O'Dell, Charles O'Dell, Claude O'Dell, all of Bristol, and Albert O'Dell, Detroit, Mich.; and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Witcher, Bristol, Mrs. Sarah O'Dell, Bluff City, and Mrs. Nancy Kinchloe, Knoxville, Tenn. |
