    Notes:

    We are saddened to announce the passing of Shirley A Wood on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at her residence. She was born March 27, 1937, in Elizabethton, TN, to the late Lloyd Parker and Vergie Morefield Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred S. Wood. She was also preceded by two brothers, Dallas Parker and Lloyd Parker Jr. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She loved cooking, gardening, spending time with her family, and playing Canasta. She was a 1955 graduate of Johnson County High School.

    Survivors include two daughters, Karen Snyder (Larry) of Glen Allen, VA, and Lisa Haynes (Doug) of Mountain City. Two sons, Kenneth Wood (Marie) of Hudson, NC, and Dwayne Wood (Rachel) of Lenoir, NC. Grandchildren: Stephanie Snyder of Washington DC, Mychael Cress of Boones Creek, TN, Mary Downing (Greg) of Kernersville, NC, Wayne Trexler (Ashley) of Hickory, NC, Matthew Wood (Kayleigh) of Granite Falls, NC, Mary Wood, and Becky Wood both of Lenoir, NC, Two sisters: Mary Shupe of Mountain City, TN and Barbara Sexton of Mountain City, TN, One brother: Charles Parker of Sulfer Springs, TN. Several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive, along with a special friend Nancy Wills of Mountain City, TN.

    Funeral services for Shirley A. Wood will be conducted on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 6 pm at Bethany Baptist Church, with Dr. Gale Hartley to officiate.

    The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 6 pm prior to the funeral service.

    Graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 11 am in Sunset Memorial Park

    Pallbearers are Carroll Parker, Tim Parker, Marty Parker, Joe Parker, Jess Parker, Wayne Parker, Terry Parker, Victor Ward, and Matthew Wood.

    Shirley married Alfred Smith Wood about 1952. Alfred (son of John Francis Wood and Mary Allie Farthing) was born on 16 Aug 1927 in , Watauga County, North Carolina, North Carolina; died on 11 Mar 2018 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Sunset Memorial Park, , Johnson County, Tennessee.     Lloyd Monroe Parker, age 84, of Marion, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017. He was born on November 12, 1932 to the late Monroe and Virgie Morefield Parker.
    In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Younce Parker and a daughter, Tracy Ann Parker.

    Lloyd was a faithful Dad, Papaw and Great Papaw Parker. He was his family's biggest fan, always there at sporting events cheering them on. He had a special love for all of his family and was always telling people he was where he loved to be - with all of his family.

    Lloyd worked various jobs throughout his lifetime including the old Burlington plant. When he wasn't working his 'regular' job, Lloyd enjoyed working on lawn mowers.

    He had a special companion whom he loved very much, Lucky the cat, who was always by his side until his death last year.
    He was a member of Roan Creek Baptist Church.

    Those left to cherish his memories include his son and daughter--in-law, Timothy and Shirley Parker; sisters: Shirley Wood and husband Alfred, Mary Shupe and husband Benny and Barbara Sexton; brothers: Dallas Parker and wife Phyllis and Charles Parker; grandchildren: Karissa Thornburg and husband Preston, Daniel Parker and fiancé Meghan Thomas, Troy Parker and fiancé Amber Ward; great grandchildren: Liam Thornburg, Mila Thornburg, Elaina Parker and Connor Ward; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.

    The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor David Hankal and Pastor Mike McNutt officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Wilson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Parker, Troy Parker, Carroll Parker, Terry Parker, Brian Shupe and Kenneth Wood. Honorary pallbearers are Dwayne Wood, David Shupe, Roy Hodge, David Bunting and David Manuel.

    Dallas Glenn Parker, age 78, of 496 Taft Eggers Lane, passed away, Friday, April 19, 2019, at his residence following an extended illness. Dallas was born December 1, 1940, in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Loyd Parker and Vergie Morefield Parker. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Loyd Parker, Jr., bother-in-law Alfred Wood and sister-in-law Charlotte Parker.

    Dallas was a member of the Mountain City Church of Christ, a US Army Veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his grandchildren play sports. Dallas was a retired electrician and member of IBEW #934.

    Those left to cherish Dallas' memory are his wife of 53 year, Phyllis Eggers Parker; sons, Carroll Parker and wife, Sherry and Terry Parker and wife Kelly all of Mountain City; sisters Shirley Wood, Barbara Sexton, and Mary Shupe and husband Benny, all of Mountain City; brother Charles Parker of Mountain City; grandchildren Valerie Parker, Tyler Parker, Nora Parker, Barrett Parker, Josi Roark, and Dalton Roark; great-grandchild Braydon Greenwell; several nieces and nephews; his church family; IBEW brothers of Local #934.

    Funeral services for Dallas G. Parker will be conducted on Monday, April 22, 2019, at 7 pm in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5pm -7 pm prior to the service. Chuck Stewart and Dean Gouge will officiate the service. Graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 11 am, with Honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard, from Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, TN.

    Pallbearers will be Brian Shupe, Tim Parker, Kenny Wood, Robbie Brown, Jeff Brown, and Darren Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Rogers and all the nurses at the VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, Staff of Amedisys Home Health Care, and the men of Mountain City Church of Christ.
