    Notes:

    David Furches, 70, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

    David was a Washington County Native & the son of the late Hobert William and Ruth "Blanche" Tester Furches.

    He was a US Army Veteran Sergeant First Class, serving in the Vietnam War. He was the co-owner, with Harold Vandercook, of D & H Construction. David was a member of Martindale Baptist Church, where he served on the board of directors, taught Sunday school & sang in the choir.

    Along with his parents he is preceded in death by sister Ruth Bunch and an infant sister; 4 brothers Wayne, Howard & Aaron Furches & Tom Ely.

    Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, of 38 years Patricia Vandercook Furches, 7 children Melissa Furches, Sara Beth Furches Brutscher, Laura Furches, Jean-David Furches & wife Sarah, Addie Jill Park & husband Michael, Rebekah Furches & Jeremiah Furches; 4 grandchildren Penelope, Lincoln, & Addie Park & William Furches; 3 brothers Larry, Johnny & Timothy Furches; 2 sisters June Chastain & Judy Smith; several nieces, nephews & cousins.

    The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 12:30 P.M. in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Delbert Storie, officiating.

    The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

    The graveside committal service will follow in Mountain Home National Cemetery at 1:45 P.M., with Military honors being accorded by the Carter Co. Honor Guard.
