    Earnest G. Chambers, 85, 232 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, after a lengthy illness.

    Mr. Chambers was a Carter County native and a son of the late Henry W. and Callie Deloach Chambers.

    He retired as an employee of Beaunit Fibers, Elizabethton.

    Mr. Chambers was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Normandy, northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal with Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart, five Bronze service stars, the American Defense Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Jewell Adams Chambers, in March; and three brothers, Frank Chambers, Bill Chambers and Elmer Chambers.

    Survivors include two sons, Van Chambers and Fred Chambers, both of Elizabethton; three sisters, Christine Chambers and Dorothy Chambers, both of Elizabethton, and Ruby Glover, Bristol, Va.; and one stepgranddaughter.

    Earnest married Ruby Jewel Adams on 7 Apr 1947 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Ruby (daughter of Harry A. Adams and Celia J.     Ms. Dorothy Chambers, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Henry William and Callie Deloach Chambers and was born in Elizabethton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Ms. Chambers was a member of Sims Hill Christian Church and a retired waitress from Tasty Freeze. Ms. Chambers is survived by a sister, Ruby Glover, Bristol, Va.; two nieces, Vickie Chambers and Louanne Chambers, both of Elizabethton; and five nephews, Terry Chambers, Fred Chambers, Elizabethton, Johnny Chambers, Houston, Texas, Ed Glover and Larry Glover, both of Bristol, Va. A grand-niece, Brandi Glover, Abingdon, Va., also survives. A Celebration of Life service to honor Dorothy Chambers will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Ed Glover, minister, and Rev. Larry Glover officiating. Interment will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews.

    ELIZABETHTON — Miss Christine D. Chambers, age 82, formerly of 220 Coal Chute Road , Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord at Life Care Center of Elizabethton on Saturday, February 3, 2007, following a brief illness.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Callie Deloach Chambers. She was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Miss Chambers was preceded in death by four brothers.

    Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Glover, Bristol, VA, and Dorothy Chambers, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Jean Matherly, Elizabethton, also survive.

    The funeral service for Miss Chambers will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2007, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Glover and Pastor Larry Glover officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service.

    JOHNSON CITY - Marcella Jane Hampton Perry, 91, Johnson City, died Monday, February 7, 2022, in the Assisted Living facility of the Abundant Christian Living Community (ACLC) campus.
    Jane was a native of Elizabethton, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Thomas Allen and Bessie Junita Chambers Hampton. After moving from Elizabethton, Jane lived in Oak Ridge and Bristol, Tennessee before moving to Johnson City in 1964. She resided at 604 Hillrise Boulevard until her transition to ACLC in late 2021.
    Jane was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and spent much of her life helping to mold the lives of young people. She attended elementary school in Carter County, graduated from Elizabethton High School, and attended Milligan College and East Tennessee State University. She prepared herself for a lifelong teaching career by earning a B.S. and M.A. degree in elementary education from East Tennessee State University.
    Jane taught school in Carter County, Oak Ridge, Sullivan County, and Bristol, Tennessee before her retirement from full time teaching. After retirement she continued to serve her community and the young people of Johnson City by giving her time to substitute teach and aide teachers in the Johnson City School System. Her teaching was not confined to the classroom. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other young people whom she came in contact with continually received her love, generosity and expert guidance in educational and moral issues.
    Jane was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. Since 1964 she was a member of the First Christian Church in Johnson City where she served many years as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was a member of the Johnson City Monday Club and a life time member of the Parent Teacher Association.
    In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Allen Hampton, and a brother-in-law, James Steven Luethke.
    Survivors include her husband of nearly 70 years, Cameron Earl Perry; brother, Wayne Hampton and wife Peggy; sister, Carol Luethke; son, Thomas Cameron Perry and wife Ann; daughter, Marcy Jann Conley and husband Creighton; grandchildren, Caitlin Anne Conley Reynolds and husband Ryan, Evan Thomas Perry and wife Anna, Courtney Alyse Conley Tucker and husband Daniel, and Chloe Cameron Perry Campbell and husband Ben; great-grandchildren, Hudson Cameron Perry, Raylen Jane Perry, and Piper Marie Tucker; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services for Marcella Jane Hampton Perry will be conducted on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. in the First Christian Church of Johnson City with Mr. Gene Wiggington, minister officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday after 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service at 7:00 P.M.
    A committal service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in the Happy Valley Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

    GRAY - June Chambers Snyder, 77 of Gray, Tennessee, who was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 22nd, 2017.

    June was born March 10, 1940 in Elizabethton, Tennessee, a daughter to the late Jim and Elsie Chambers. She met her husband, Bobby Snyder at East Tennessee State University and they were married on June 1, 1960.

    June was a loyal member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gray, Tennessee since 1960. She served her precious Lord and Savior in many ways including Girls in Action, Acteen's, Sunday School Teacher, youth leadership and faithful choir member. June had a long history of working retail including her father's store, Jim Chambers Men's Shoppe, and Belk Department Store in Johnson City, TN.

    June loved sharing the Gospel until her failing health affected the things she loved the most but even to the end she never forgot her Jesus. June was known for being a prayer warrior in the church and community. Her love for others was unconditional and she unselfishly gave her time, money and resources. She was always equipping her family to do the same for others. She also had a passion to sit around the kitchen table and talk for hours to her family and friends. Her legacy will live on forever in the hearts and minds of those she influenced.

    In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Chambers.

    June is survived by her husband, Coach Bobby Snyder Sr., sons Bobby Snyder Jr. and wife Natalie of Mooresville, NC, Lance Snyder and wife Michelle of Indian Trail, NC, daughter Summar Simpson and husband Bobby Simpson, of Mount Pleasant, SC. She also leaves behind her sister, Mary Chambers Maddox of Trophy Club, TX and 6 loving grandchildren, Brittney Snyder, Madison Snyder Gilbert and husband Jason, Austin Snyder, Dillon Snyder, Shea Snyder and Isabella Simpson.

    The family will receive friends Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Oak Grove Baptist Church from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Sherril Nave and Evangelist Toonie Cash officiating. The graveside service will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Grandsons Austin & Dillon Snyder will serve as pallbearers along with Frankie Haws, Bobby Simpson, Boots Yarber, and James Barker.

    Deborah Gail Williams, 65, Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2023. Debbie was a lifelong resident of Carter County and graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1975. She then graduated from Steed College in 1979 and went to work for the City of Elizabethton. She retired from there after 42 years of service. She was a member of Doe River Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Max and Delores Williams. Debbie is survived by her sister, Jeri-Kay Williams and Melissa “Missy” Bare (Gary); nephew, Corey Bare (Maggie); great-nephew and great-niece, Carson Bare and Madelyne Bare; and a host of extended family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Brother Kent Hyder officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:45 p.m. A special thank you to Vanderbilt Cancer Center, Amedisys Hospice, and our cousin, Mike Wilson, for the help he provided to Debbie.
