    Brenda Gay Ellis Long, 69, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, at her residence following an extended illness.
    Born December 28, 1949 in Johnson City to the late Bruce and Betty Thomason Ellis, she had lived her entire life in Elizabethton.
    Mrs. Long was a 1969 graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church where she had served as church organist and Sunday School secretary. She loved sitting on her back porch and spending time with her grandchildren.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Lee Long, who passed away May 26, 2017, and a brother, Staff Sgt. Billy Joe Ellis.
    Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Andy Wilson, Teresa and Adam Taylor and Kelly and Bob Carr; seven grandchildren, Kayla and Derrick Wilson and wife Brittney, Austin, Dustin and wife Danielle and Logan Taylor and wife Suesanna and Lucas and Jacob Carr; one great-granddaughter, Sydney Taylor; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Edie Ellis and Frank and Linnie Ellis, all of Elizabethton; and her brothers-in-law, David Long and wife Lori and Chris Long.
    The graveside service for Brenda Gay Ellis Long will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, in the Smith Family Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Hinshaw and Dr. William Duncan officiating. Music will be provided by Howard and Vivian Hammonds. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Smith, Larry Tolley and her church family.
