Gladys Beatrice Howard

Gladys B. Roberts, age 86, 919 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, TN passed away Tuesday morning, July 10, 2012 in Mountain City Care Center. She was a daughter of the late Dave Howard and Susie Potter Howard. Gladys was a member of Berea Baptist Church and she loved reading, cooking and especially loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Osborne.

Survivors include her husband, Archie Roberts; one daughter, Sallie Hall of Chicago, IL; six sons, Doug Osborne and wife Camilla, Delbert Osborne and wife Sheila, Charles Osborne and wife Denise, Darrell Osborne and wife Evelyn, Archie Roberts, Jr. (Mack) and wife Lisa, all of Mountain City, TN, Lynn Osborne and wife Kim of Kingsport, TN; one sister, Pauline Miller of Mountain City, TN; one brother, Edward Howard of Ashland, OH; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Gladys B. Roberts were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Spencer, Rev. Randy Shoun and Rev. James Pardue officiating. The family received friends from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment followed in Sunset Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were staff at Mountain City Care Center.

Gladys married James Lester Osborne on 4 Oct 1945 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. James (son of William Presley Osborne and Katharine O. Delbert Ray (Deb) Osborne, age 65, of Shady Valley, Tennessee, passed away on, May 19, 2019 at the Mountain City Care Center after a long battle with cancer. He was born on July 17, 1953, to the late James Lester Osborne and Gladys Howard Roberts. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Osborne and special cousin, Bill Icenhour, by a brother, Mac Roberts, and a niece, Initia Osborne.

Deb is survived by his daughter, Megan Osborne, grandchildren, Gabriel Hensley, Adi, Nollie and Gunnar Stout, Chelsey Osborne Church and Steven Osborne, sister, Sallie Hall, brother, Doug Osborne (Camila), Charles Osborne (Denise), Darrell Osborne (Evelyn) and Lynn Osborne(Kim), two, aunts, Margaret Icenhour and Pauline Miller, special friends, Lorie Wallace, Guy Hayes and Sheila Barrette. Deb donated his body for research and no formal service was held.
