    JOHNSON CITY - Mary Dunn Letterman, 94, of Johnson City passed peacefully surrounded by family at NHC Healthcare on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

    She was born in Washington County, Tennessee on May 13, 1924, the daughter of the late William and Dora Seaton Dunn.

    Mary was a member of Westerly Heights Baptist Church for 55 years. She gladly accepted the many roles she was asked to perform – Sunday school teacher, clerk, treasurer, choir member, and pianist.

    In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Donald Letterman; her eldest son Jerry Letterman; a brother, William Dunn; three sisters, Alice Dunn, Jessie Nidiffer, and Frances Taylor; and two special nieces, Sondra Foutch and Louise Servente.

    She is survived by two daughters, Lillian Babb and Anne Casteel (Cecil); three sons, Tony Letterman (Karen), Ray Letterman (Nancy), and Sid Letterman (Cathye); a daughter-in-law, Oi Lin Letterman; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Allen and Brenda Frost, who she lovingly referred to as son and daughter.

    The Letterman family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Morris-Baker in the Dogwood Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm, officiated by Dr. Chuck Babb. A committal service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Washington County Memory Gardens, also officiated by Dr. Babb. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
