    Notes:

    Shirley Beatrice “Bea” Thompson, 69, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Joe Clarence and Ethel McKinney Birchfield and was born on August 4, 1952. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ella Mae Birchfield, and four brothers, Clarence Birchfield, Howard “Lit” Birchfield, Earl Birchfield and Bill Birchfield.
    Bea was a homemaker and attended Sugar Hollow Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed animals, cars and shopping for clothes. She loved Elvis Presley and gospel music and formerly played with the Roan Mountain Hilltoppers.
    Those left to cherish her memories include two sons, Michael Thompson (Tricia) and Daniel Thompson, all of Roan Mountain; three grandchildren, Macie Dugger (Blake) of Poga, Tenn., Thomas Brown and John Dula (Riley), all of Elizabethton; and four great-grandchildren, Carson Dugger and Waylon Dugger of Poga, Tenn., Isaiah Brown and Daisey May Dula, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
    A service to celebrate Bea’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Pastor Randy English officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Gibbs Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Sheets officiating. Active pallbearers will be her two sons, Michael Thompson and Daniel Thompson, as well as other members of her family.
