    Dr. Estill L. Caudill Jr. , 82, Pine Hill Road Extension, Elizabethton, died Monday evening, March 1, 1999, at his residence following a brief illness. Dr. Caudill was a native of Narrows, Va., and the son of the late Dr. E.L. Caudill Sr. and Flora Weatherly Caudill. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Bolton Caudill, October 12, 1987

    Dr. Caudill graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1941. Following his internship, he entered the U.S. Army to serve during World War II. During World War II, Dr. Caudill was in the D Day invasion, the Battle of the Bulge and the crossing of the River Rhine. He was a member of the 101st Airborne and the 82nd Airborne. At the end of World War II, Dr. Caudill returned to Elizabethton and entered into the practice of family medicine. He had served as president of the Tennessee Academy of General Practice, the Tennessee State Board of Registration in Medicine, was the Carter County Medical Examiner for many years, and served as Medical Director of Beaunit Fibers until his retirement. Dr. Caudill was a member and past president of the Elizabethton Rotary Club, a former director of Citizens Bank, and a charter director of Security Federal Savings Bank. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

    Survivors include a son, Dr. E.L. Caudill III, Manchester, Mass.; two daughters, Anne Clifton Lewis, Guilford, Conn., and Lucy Austin, Ooltewah, Tenn.; a brother, Julian Caudill, Elizabethton; and a sister, Mary Daniel Weiss, Alexandria, Va. Six grandchildren also survive.

    Estill married Lucy D. Bolton on 25 Nov 1938 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Lucy (daughter of Charlie L. Bolton and Annie A. (Bolton)) was born on 4 Jan 1918 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; died on 12 Oct 1987 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.     Of Manchester By the Sea, died on Saturday July 9 at the age of 65. Dr Caudill is survived by his wife Francie (Roesel), 2 children Mark Caudill of Bonita Springs, FL and Anne Engelhart of Cushing ME, 2 grandchildren, 2 sisters; Anne Lewis of Gilford CT and Lucy Austin of Georgetown TN and many other relatives. A memorial will be held on Saturday July 16 at 16 Magnolia Ave, Manchester at the Caudill home.

    Anne Weatherly Caudill Lewis died on Good Friday, April 19, 2019. She was 76 years old.
    Anne was born and grew up in Elizabethton, Tenn., was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and the wife of Clifton R. "Reg" Lewis, who survives. Anne and Reg celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary last September. In addition to her parents, Estill L. "E.L." Jr. and Lucy Bolton Caudill, Anne was preceded in death by her brother, Estill L. "Skip" Caudill III.
    Anne loved a challenging crossword puzzle. She was good at card games and enjoyed the movies, particularly old Hollywood musicals. She was an avid reader. Her ability to recall historical facts as well as details of life events was impressive. Anne set a high standard and she was a caring and thoughtful woman. Anne never lost her East Tennessee accent, often receiving from new acquaintances the question, "Are you from the South?" to which she would always reply, "Yes, Southern Connecticut."
    Anne is survived by her children, Mitchell Armstrong Lewis and Carrie Weatherly Lewis Harris. Also surviving are a sister, Lucy Caudill Austin; sisters-in-law, Frances Roesel Caudill and Kay Lewis Kennedy; and son-in-law, Richard Preston Harris. Grandchildren are Cole Dalton, Claudia Catherine and Rachel Anne Harris. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Anne will be greatly missed.
