    He was a Carter County native and a son the late Godfrey H. and Lora Marie Richardson Estep.
    Mr. Estep was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp.
    He was a World War II Army veteran.
    Mr. Estep was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a deacon. He attended Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Eva Holder Estep; two daughters, Diana Estep and Donna Estep, both of the home; two sisters, Helen Estep, Elizabethton, and Selma Swift, Opeka FL; one brother Burton Estep, Adairville KY; and several nieces and nephews.

    After his 92nd birthday, Mr. Burton Estep passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tenn., on April 10, 2019, at 6:19 a.m.
    A native of Carter County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Godfrey and Lora Richardson Estep. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Ruth Rash Estep; a twin sister, Helen Estep; a sister, Selma Swift; a brother, Shade Estep; and many beloved friends and extended family.
    Mr. Estep served in the military, graduated from college and retired as President of Adairville Banking Company, Adairville, Ky. During his career, he was also a teacher at Holmes Jr. College in Mississippi and continued on to work as a National Bank Examiner while raising his family in Nashville, Tenn.
    Burton and Ruth are survived by their two daughters, Cindy Gilmore and Julia (Terri) Robertson, and two sons, Richard Estep and Roger Estep. Burton was blessed with eight grandchildren, Michael Parsons, Amanda Gaston, Joshua Estep, Natalie Prince, Michelle Crow, Patrick Estep, Adam Estep and Benjamin Estep; and several great-grandchildren. Burton had a special relationship with his two daughters-in-law, Brenda and Angela, and the family thanks them for their loving attention to him through the years. A special thank you goes to his daughter, Julia, who has been his constant caretaker for the last 15 years. She stood by his side through each illness as tenderly as she served her mother during her illnesses. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, promises to fill her with many blessings for her honorable service.
    Burton enjoyed music and his guitars and shared that hobby with many of his fellow residents at the St. Mary's Villa Independent and Assisted Living Centers in Nashville, Tenn., where he resided for the last several years of his life. He was always encouraging others to grab a guitar and join him in "I'll Fly Away." Today, he celebrates the Resurrection.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with his son, Richard Estep, officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Bertie Richardson Estep.
    Mrs. Shoun was a former employee of East Tennessee Undergarment. She was a member of Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Shoun was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Shoun, May 1, 1979, a daughter, Tammy Lynn Shoun, November 18, 1972, a brother, Charles Estep, and a sister, Mamie Estep.
    Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy and Cathy Shoun and Joey Shoun, all of Elizabethton; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Wayne Campbell, Elizabethton; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Henry Paul and Brenda Estep, Shelby, N.C., Vivian Estep, Newton, N.C.; five grandchildren, Brittany, Jessica, Blake, Lucas and Olivia; and a great-grandson, Mason. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Shoun will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brett Jones and the Rev. D.C. Byrd officiating. Music will be provided by Peggy Oliver.
    Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, in the Shoun Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Birchfield officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, will be Wayne Campbell, Joe Eggers, Jimmy Johnson, Bobby Hardin, Dallas Carrier, Brian Estep, Kenvin Richardson, Ernest Davis, Joe Carrier and Eugene Carrier. Honorary pallbearers will be Lucas and Blake Tanner and her church family.

    Randy Keith Shoun, 64, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Leonard and Corine Estep Shoun.
    Randy was a graduate of Unaka High School and attended Herman Robinson Vocational Technical School. He was retired from the Radiology Department of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He loved working on cars.
    Randy was a member of Hunter United Methodist Church.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Blake Tanner, and a sister, Tammy Shoun. Randy was a member of Hunter United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Cathy Shell Shoun; his children, Brittany Shoun, Olivia Shoun, Jessica Cloutier and Lucas (Brittany) Tanner; several grandchildren; and one brother, Joey (Amy) Shoun.
    A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, January 10, in the Shoun Cemetery with the Rev. Lu Crandell Miller and the Rev. Mike Berry officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
