    Allen L. Snyder, 82, of 224 Allen Snyder Ln, Mountain City, Tennessee, surrounded by his family, passed away in his home on Monday December 24, 2018. Allen was born in Butler, TN on July 1, 1936, to Paul H. and Virginia Bunting Snyder. Allen is preceded in death by his parents and a special niece Jennifer Main.



    Allen is a Johnson County native and graduate of Johnson County High School. After graduation, Allen went into the US Army. After discharge, Allen went to Lees-McRae College and Appalachian State University, playing football for both the Bobcats and the Mountaineers. After graduating from college, Allen returned to Johnson County where he was a teacher, coach, and administrator for 30 years. Allen also enjoyed working the land and farming, which he had plenty of time to do after he retired from teaching. When Allen was not working, he enjoyed watching Tennessee Vols sports and spending time with his grandchildren.

    Those left to remember Allen are his loving wife of 57 years, Lennis Trivette Snyder; daughter Tracy Arrington and husband Pride of Glade Springs, VA; son Kent Snyder and wife Kelly of Dalton, GA; sister Mary Ann Jacobs of Butler, TN; brother John Snyder of Boone, NC; grandchildren Hannah Snyder, Mollie Snyder, Annie Kate Sapp and husband Jake, Kiley and "Lil" Pride Arrington; several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Eric and Kaleb Trivette, Joel Dugger, Marvin Arney and JL Hamby.

    Allen was a member of Roan Creek Masonic Lodge F&AM #679, Jericho Shriners Temple, Tri-State Board of Directors, Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and the Johnson County Planning Commission.

    Services for Allen Snyder will be held at 7 pm on Friday, December 28, 2018, in the Charlie B. Hux Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5pm – 7pm prior to the service. Military Honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Wayne Ward, Tom Fortune, Brian Mink, Bradley Mink, Darren Main, and Mark Trivette

    Margaret was born on August 30, 1939, in Butler, TN. She was a 1957 Graduate of Johnson County High School and attended both The University of Kentucky and East Tennessee State University. Margaret moved to Bristol in 1958 when she began working at Raytheon. During her nine years at Raytheon, she met Samuel Myers and they were married on July 1, 1967. Margaret became a homemaker and mother who loved taking care of her family.

    She was an active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church Bristol Virginia where she served as Church Hostess for 10 years. During which time she orchestrated countless Wednesday Night Meals, wedding receptions and other social events at the church. Margaret was well known for her volunteer spirit and endless hours working with various groups at her church, school PTA, South Holston Little League Concessions, Sullivan East High School Band Concessions, and Sullivan County 4-H.

    Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Samuel Miller Myers, parents Dayton and Minnie Belle (Ward) Snyder, brother James S. Snyder and sister in-law Dixie Snyder. She is survived by her daughter, Jama and husband Phillip Richardson; son, Daniel and wife Debbie Myers; stepdaughter, Linda and husband John R. Williams and her grandchildren, Sam, Max and Van Richardson, Jessica, Joshua and Jocelyn Myers, Alvin and wife Lisa Williams, Mary Ruth and husband David Brown and Michelle and husband Jason Reynolds; great-grandsons; Hayden Williams, Paul Brown and Noah Reynolds; her brothers, Roy Snyder, David and wife Ladonna Snyder and Richard Snyder; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

    The family wishes to thank the staff of Courtyards Senior Living Knoxville, Truewood by Merrill Powell, and Avalon Hospice for their loving care of our mother.

    MOUNTAIN CITY — James Stuart Snyder, age 71, of 120 Robe Shull Road, Mountain City, TN passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at his residence.

    He was a native of Johnson County and was born March 20, 1941 to the late Dayton S. Snyder and Minnie Belle Ward Snyder.

    Jim was a quiet man and had a gentle spirit. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He loved the simple life and also loved traveling to the Amish Country because he felt he had a lot in common with them.

    Jim Graduated from Johnson County High School and spend three years in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a dairy farmer for 36 years and a carrier for Johnson City Press for 5 years. He was of the Baptist faith and loved his Lord Jesus Christ. When able he attended Vaughts Gap Baptist Church.

    He is survived by his wife of 27 years Lois Phipps Snyder; sister: Margaret Snyder Myers; brothers: David Snyder and wife Ladonna; Roy Snyder and wife Dixie; Richard "Dick" Snyder and wife Lona Jean; daughter: Angelina Marie Snyder and husband Nevin; step children: Jody Putnam, Tammy McCloud, Pamela Brown and husband Jeff; grandchildren: Liddy Drey Arnold, Madelyn Grace Arnold, Johnathan Tanner Putnam, Shainna Rhea Putnam, Allyson Paige McCloud, Griffin Lynn Brown, Carson Ray Brown; his children whom he called his adopted children: Wild Willie Phipps, Melinda (Moe) Sutherland Hasket, Bobbie Joe Crawford, Holly Grayson Brown, Billy and Mark Ward. Several nieces, nephews, many special friends, and his special horse Andy also survive.

    Funeral services for James Stuart Snyder will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Swift and Rev. Chuck Morefield officiating.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service with military honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 from Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

    Active pallbearers will be Willie Phipps, Billy Ward, Mark Ward, Jeff Brown, Griffin Brown, Nevin Snyder, J.L. Hamby, Dan Myers, Brent Snyder, Eric Snyder and Travis Williams.

    Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Stanley, Bill Adams, Sam Cress, Eric Trivette, Ken Phipps, Bill Brookshire, Mike Wills, Paul Dunn, Kelly Wilson, Joe Guinn, Bill Tugman, Bob Garland, Pat Conville, Jim McCulloch, Pug Tester and Stacy Whitaker.

    Wesley Eric Snyder, age 44, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Friday morning, October 15, 2021 at his home. Eric was born on March 30, 1977 in Johnson City, TN. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dayton and Minnie Bell Snyder and Edell Arnold, aunt, Margaret Myers, uncle, Jim Snyder.

    Eric loved the outdoors, farming, fishing and hunting. He was an avid UT Vols fan. Eric was a loving person and cared about others. Eric was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

    Those left to cherish Eric’s memories include his father, Dick Snyder, mother, Barbara Barnhill and husband Michael, daughter, Marley Bell Rhymer, son, Payton James Snyder, brother, Brent Snyder, step brother, Chad Williams, step sisters, Jennifer Harry and Anna McGlamery, grandfather, William Herb Arnold, special aunt, Delores Johnson Phillips, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The family will receive friends from 1 – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Mountain City Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor, Rick Thomason officiating. Pallbearers will be Dan Myers, Dalton Snyder, Zachery Reece, Travis Williams, Mike Farmer, T.J. Walters, Travis Ward, Adam Sauer and Austin Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are Dave Snyder, Lloyd Snyder, Brian Mink, Brandon Mink, Jason Baker and Jay Klein. Graveside service and burial will follow from the Bakers Gap Cemetery.
