    Allen L. Snyder, 82, of 224 Allen Snyder Ln, Mountain City, Tennessee, surrounded by his family, passed away in his home on Monday December 24, 2018. Allen was born in Butler, TN on July 1, 1936, to Paul H. and Virginia Bunting Snyder. Allen is preceded in death by his parents and a special niece Jennifer Main.



    Allen is a Johnson County native and graduate of Johnson County High School. After graduation, Allen went into the US Army. After discharge, Allen went to Lees-McRae College and Appalachian State University, playing football for both the Bobcats and the Mountaineers. After graduating from college, Allen returned to Johnson County where he was a teacher, coach, and administrator for 30 years. Allen also enjoyed working the land and farming, which he had plenty of time to do after he retired from teaching. When Allen was not working, he enjoyed watching Tennessee Vols sports and spending time with his grandchildren.

    Those left to remember Allen are his loving wife of 57 years, Lennis Trivette Snyder; daughter Tracy Arrington and husband Pride of Glade Springs, VA; son Kent Snyder and wife Kelly of Dalton, GA; sister Mary Ann Jacobs of Butler, TN; brother John Snyder of Boone, NC; grandchildren Hannah Snyder, Mollie Snyder, Annie Kate Sapp and husband Jake, Kiley and "Lil" Pride Arrington; several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Eric and Kaleb Trivette, Joel Dugger, Marvin Arney and JL Hamby.

    Allen was a member of Roan Creek Masonic Lodge F&AM #679, Jericho Shriners Temple, Tri-State Board of Directors, Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and the Johnson County Planning Commission.

    Services for Allen Snyder will be held at 7 pm on Friday, December 28, 2018, in the Charlie B. Hux Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5pm – 7pm prior to the service. Military Honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Wayne Ward, Tom Fortune, Brian Mink, Bradley Mink, Darren Main, and Mark Trivette
