    JOHNSON CITY - Mary “Gladys” Weaver, age 93, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023, at her home.

    A lifelong resident of Johnson City, Gladys was born on May 5, 1929, to the late Alfred Babb and Rettie Ann Medlin Babb. She married the love of her life, Frank Weaver, on June 22, 1950, and together they raised two daughters. Gladys was not only a homemaker, but she was also an exceptional caregiver.

    Gladys was of the Pentecostal faith, and she attended services at Prayer Tabernacle.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1991; sisters, Lena and Wanda; and brothers, Otis, Guy, Dayton, Alfred Jr., Marshal, Carson, Arch, Freddie, Marvin, and David Head.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Janice Grindstaff and Barbara Elliott; grandchildren, Shawn Grindstaff, Kevin (Michelle) Grindstaff, Brian (Ethel) Grindstaff, Shae (Josh) Dunnavant; and Jeremy (Mary) Elliott; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Taylor, Katie, Paige, Jessica, Haley, Gabe, Carter Rose, and Elia Daisy; great-great-granddaughters, Alana and Hazel; sister, Verna (Robert) Fulwiler; brother, Jimmy Head; and many nieces and nephews.

    There will be a graveside service at 10:00 am on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Washington County Memory Gardens in the Mausoleum chapel, under the direction of Pastor Chuck Babb. Please meet at the cemetery by 9:50 am.

    Active pallbearers will include Shawn Grindstaff, Kevin Grindstaff, Brian Grindstaff, Jeremy Elliott, Dakota Grindstaff, and Josh Dunnavant. Honorary pallbearers include Tommy Cook, Doug Cline, and Ronnie Grindstaff.

    Charlotte Marie Babb Forbes Laws, 84, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, October 31, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was also known by many as “Totty.”
    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Carl Edward and Rosetta Crigger Babb.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Forbes; her second husband, Bob Laws; a son, Clyde Edward Forbes; her daughters, Linda Forbes and Karen Forbes Fritts Fisher; her sister, Helen Babb Harrison; infant brother; and her great-grandsons, Lucas Brown and Ethan Brown.
    Charlotte was a 1956 graduate of Hampton High School and served on the class reunion committee. She was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church where she attended for 80 years and was a member of the Young At Heart Ladies Sunday School Class where she had served as secretary for several years.
    Charlotte owned and operated the Professional Snack Bar and Charlotte’s Catering. She worked as secretary for Class Act Cycle.
    Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Rosie Forbes Rouse (David) Harwell; her grandchildren, Brandon (Tracy) Estep, Jessica Rouse Brown (Jake) Smith, Robbie Fritts, Thomas (Danielle) Hamby, Jeremy (Stephanie) Rouse, Clarinda Anderson (Shane) O’dell, James (Morgan) Forbes, Jacob (Justina) Forbes, Julie Forbes and Dakota (Lindsey) Harwell; her great-grandchildren, Calvyn Estep, Cali Estep, Quest Estep, Emily Brown (Austin) Norton, Halee Brown, Carolina Smith, Sterling Harwell, Shayln Odell, Layla Anderson, A.J. Martin and Cameron Hamby; her great-great-grandsons, Connor, Elijah and Grayson; a niece, Lisa (Tony) Morgan; nephews, Carl (Cheryl) Harrison and Jack (Regina) Harrison; her brother-in-law, Sam Harrison; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Forbes; a son-in-law, Jim Fritts; adopted grandson, Bo Lyons; special friend, Peggy (Ikis) Nave; her cousin, Lucy Babb; and several other cousins.
    A Service to Celebrate the Life of Charlotte Laws will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 4, at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. Music will be provided by Bo Lyons, Lisa Morgan and Joel Crisp. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    JOHNSON CITY - Jimmy C. Babb, 72, Johnson City went home to be with his Lord, Friday, August 20, 2021 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Johnson City and was the son of Nola Troxell Babb of Johnson City and the late Cecil Babb. Jimmy was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ where he served as Office Administrator and Missions Director.

    Jim’s life was a display of a servants heart. He was always reaching out to individuals less fortunate in life. Jim had a gift to listen and offer help or advice in any situation. He did not value many material possessions in life, but his family was his treasure. His greatest blessings were his granddaughters, Ashley and Courtney.

    Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Linda Keene Babb of the home; his son, Scottie Babb and wife, Alyshia ( whom he cherished like his own daughter) of Johnson City; two sisters, Rita Greene and husband, Johnny of Murfreesboro and Judy Walker and husband, Skip of Johnson City; his granddaughters, Ashley Babb and Courtney Babb; nieces, Myra Braun and Ginger Panter; nephews, Jeremy Walker and Michael Walker; also several cousins.

    Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park with his friend and Pastor, Donny Reagan officiating. Pallbearers will be Scott Babb, Johnny Greene, Skip Walker, J.D. Whitson, Michael Bailey, Jackie Tipton, Randy Babb and Larry Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Ward, Lynn Dugger, Dan Dyer, Louie Blevins, Nathan Davis, Harvey Lunsford, Rocky Ward, Dallas Ornduff and Ron Dailey.
