    Charles A. "Shuffle" Ellis, 69, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

    Charles was a native and lifelong Washington County resident. He was the son of the late Arthur C. and Mary Bennett Ellis.

    Charles was a Brick Mason of forty-six years prior to his retirement.

    He was a member of University Parkway Baptist Church, where he attended the Drive-In Church.

    In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tom Roberts.

    He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Sharon B. Ellis; his sister, Janet Ellis, Jonesborough; four daughters, Julie Roberts, Amy Brown and husband Chad, Laura Jones and husband Travis, all of Jonesborough, Carrie Nidiffer and husband Jim, Johnson City; a step-daughter, Renee Fleenor, Bakersville, NC; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

    The funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 9, 2018, at 2:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Dr. Michael Oaks and Rev. Scott Thompson, officiating. Special music will be provided by Kathy Thompson.

    The graveside committal service will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Chad Brown, Travis Jones, Garrison Brown, Larry, Matthew and Jordan Evans. Honorary pallbearers are Kolby Jones, Lowell Green and Glen Whittington. Special music will be provided by Jon Shell, Bagpiper.
