    Blane Blevins, 76, died Tuesday at HCA Putnam Community Hospital following a long illness.
    A native of Shady Valley, Tenn., he moved to Pomona Park in 1962 from Bristol, Tenn. He retired from the Georgia-Pacific pulp mill in 1978. He was a member of West Side Church of Christ in Palatka.
    He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline Blevins of Pomona Park; two sons, Dean Blevins of Pomona Park and Jacky Blevins of Palatka; three daughters, Peggy James and Sandra Smith, both of Laurel, Md., and Gloria Barnsley of Olney, Md.; brother, Berry Blevins of Shady Valley, Tenn.; two sisters, Mona McQueen and Sue Berry, both of Shady Valley, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
    His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Clayton Frank & Sons Funeral Home in Crescent City with the Rev. Ed. Starling officiating. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery.

    McQUEEN, MONA M. SHADY VALLEY, TN-- Mona M. McQueen, 81, of 9952 Highway 421 North, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in Johnson City Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Shady Valley and a daughter of the late Isaac and Gertie Long Blevins. She was the widow of Chester McQueen and a member of Harmon Christian Church. Surviving are three daughters, Delores Blevins of Rockford, AL, and Phyllis Perdue and Judy Mahala, both of Shady Valley; a son, Kenny McQueen, of Butler; a sister, Sue Barry of Shady Valley; a brother, R.B. Blevins of Shady Valley; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Harmon Christian Church by Johnson Funeral Home in Damascus. Jim Hutchinson, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Blevins Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Long, Kenneth Garland, Huey Long, Elwood Cretsinger, Gary McQueen, Erby Howard, Tom Reece and R. D. Garland. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in Harmon Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Shady Valley Fire Department. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Russell Berry "R.B." Blevins, age 84, of Shady Valley, passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at his residence.

    Berry was born March 28, 1924, in Johnson County, TN, to the late Isaac C. and Gertie Mae Long Blevins. Berry was a life long resident of Shady Valley and enjoyed farming, hunting, cars, all sports, especially the UT Vols. He was a member of the Shady Valley baseball team.

    He was a member of Shady Valley Church of Christ, where he was a deacon and song leader for several years. He loved his family and will be truly missed.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mona McQueen, Sue Barry and Nina Sams; and two brothers, Blaine Blevins and Ozra Blevins.

    Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Azona Blevins; two daughters, Lisa Watson and husband, Chris, of Shady Valley, and Teresa Ann Owens, of Damascus, VA; four sons, Ronnie Blevins and wife, Jewell, of Nicholasville, KY, Roger Blevins and wife, Lois, of Shady Valley, Tim Blevins and wife, Melanie, of Knoxville, TN, and Cleve Blevins and wife, Kentia, of Lakeland, FL.; grandchildren, Jody Blevins, Angie Manz and husband, Dan, Jeffery Blevins, Drew Phillips, Amy Phillips, Troy Owens, Brandi Owens, Logan Blevins, Grant Blevins, Madison Blevins, Kristen Watson, Kelsey Watson and Hannah Blevins; three great grandchildren, Kelsa Blevins, Jacob and Olivia Manz; and several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2009, at Shady Valley Church of Christ with Kirk Sams and Jim Sherman, Ministers, officiating.

    Pallbearers will be Kelly Bentley, Clifford Blevins, Bud Gentry, Gary Gentry, Mark Gentry, Dennis Honaker, Charles Townsend and Clifford Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Hill, Olan Bentley, Cline Ray Blevins, Riley Curd, Jim Eller, R.D. Garland, Ben Lewis, Brian McQueen, Bill Manuel, Haskel McQueen, Vernon McQueen, Dale Robinson, J.L. Shumate, Roy Wallace, Herman Watson and Jesse Widener.

    The committal service and interment will follow in Blevins Cemetery.

    Ozra "Ed" Blevins, 60, died Saturday in St. Joseph Medical Center.

    The Shady Valley, Tenn., native retired in 1987 from Zollner Corp. after 32 years. He was a member of Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

    Surviving are his wife, Mary M.; daughter, Rebecca S. Geary of LaOtto; sons, Stephen E. of Churubusco and Gregory W. of Fort Wayne; sisters, Mona McQueen and Sue Barry, both of Shady Valley; brothers, Blane of Pamona Park, Fla., and Berry of Shady Valley; and four grandchildren.

    Services are 11 a.m. tomorrow in the church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling is 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., and 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow in the church. Preferred memorials are gifts to the church.
