Opal June Mathis, 77, 266 Oliver Edwards Road, Jonesborough, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Mathis was born July 7, 1934 in Washington County. She was the daughter of the late Nat Clint and Gladys Ina Tucker Casey.
Survivors include three sons: Ricky Mathis and wife, Jill, Log Cabin Circle, Va., Allen Mathis and Lynn Mathis, both of the home; one daughter: Debbie Gardner and husband, Edward, Burlington, North Carolina; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; seven brothers: Bernie Casey and wife, Betty, Carlos Casey and wife, Betty, all of Jonesborough, Bobby Casey and wife, Marsha, Richard Casey and wife, Candy, Johnny Casey, Ronnie Casey and wife, Brenda, David Casey and wife, Brenda; and one sister: Linda Tolley, all of Erwin; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive as well as special close friends: Mary Street and Jewel Rice.
Funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Robert Ledford Funeral Home with the Rev. Otis Banks officiating. Special piano music was provided by Mrs. Pearl Banks and special vocal selections by the Embreeville Missionary Baptist Church Quartet.
Pallbearers were Mackey Casey, Robbie Casey, Jerrett Casey, Clint Casey, Eric Casey, and Deryl Parnell.
The committal service for Mrs. Mathis will be held Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m., in Bumpus Cove Cemetery.

Bernie married Betty Lydia Richardson about 1957 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee. Betty (daughter of Alvin Richardson and Ida Lockner) was born on 25 Apr 1939 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; died on 12 Mar 2015 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Bumpus Cove Cemetery, , Washington County, Tennessee. Linda Casey Tolley, age 67, Erwin went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Clinton Nat and Gladys Tucker Casey. Linda was a former employee of the Unicoi County Sheriff's Department where she was employed as a Jailer. She was a member of Embreville Cove Missionary Baptist Church and attended Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald W. Tolley on February 11, 1995; one brother, Bernie Casey in 2015 and one sister, Opal June Mathis on September 16, 2011.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, one daughter, Kim Tolley, Erwin; one granddaughter, Victoria Ledford, Johnson City; one grandson, Daniel Shults, Erwin; six brothers: Carlos Casey and wife, Betty of Jonesborough, Bobby Casey and wife, Marsha, Richard Casey and wife, Candy, Johnny Casey, Ronnie Casey and wife, Brenda, David Casey and wife, Brenda, all of Erwin. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. until the hour of service on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Kevin Laws and Reverend Otis Banks will officiate at the 8:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Committal service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in the Bumpus Cove Cemetery.
