    Born in Unicoi County, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late David and Rhoda Berry Tolley. She was the manager of Chad's Restaurant and was manager of the bar and grille at the Green Valley Country Club. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW as former president.
    Surviving are her husband of 28 years: David Merritt; a daughter: Debbie Tolley Babson a son: Darrell Owens (Becci); two brothers: William Tolley (Kathy), JC Tolley; four grandchildren and five loving great-granchildren.
    In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by: a daughter: Shirley Ann Ward; four sisters: Linnie Cleveland, Bea Cawley, Leora Ward, June McKelroy; three brothers: Harrison Tolley, Howard Tolley, Chet Tolley; and a grandson: Travis Ward.
    Burial in Mountain View Memorial Park.

    Harold L. Berry, 92, of Millers Creek, NC passed away Friday, June 19, 2020. Born in Lenawee County, Michigan on March 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Arthur Samuel Berry and Lucille Byrd Berry.

    Harold is survived by his daughters, Dimple Smith, Temple Wyatt, Willie Mae McCain, Mary Ann Adams, and Catherine Smith; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Clifford Berry; and a sister, Stella Benfield, Susie Jane Sneed, and Trula Berry.

    In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by first wife, Ruth Davis Berry; 2nd wife, Mae Berry; grandson, Matthew Hodges; brothers, Bob, L.D., Mac, Troy, and Roy; and sisters, Beulah and Daisy.

    The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2020 at Forest Hill Cemetery.

    Rev. Elgin L. D. Berry, 74 and wife Susie Jane Simerly Berry, 73, Hampton went home to be with their Lord on Saturday March 12, 2011 as the results of an automobile accident near Jones-borough.

    Rev. Berry was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Arthur and Letha Willis Berry. He was a retired employee of Snap-On-Tool, Elizabethton. He was ordained to the Ministry in 1965 and he had served as Pastor of several Free Will Baptist Church in the East Tennessee Area. He was currently pastor of the Sunrise Free Will Baptist Church, Roan Mountain. He was a member of the Fairview Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Berry had served as Moderator and held several positions of the Toe River Free Will Baptist Association. He and Susie were married July 5, 1955.

    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a great grandson: Houston Murphy, two sisters: Trina Berry and Beulah White and two brothers: Roy and William Robert Berry.

    Survivors include a Daughter: Reda Berry and her fiancé Callis, Kingsport. One Son & Daughter-in-Law: Allen Wayne & Patricia Berry, Waynesboro, Pa. Five Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren: Four Sisters: Daisy Hodge, Morristown, Stella Benfield, Morganton, North Carolina, Susie Sneed and Trula Berry both of Elizabethton. Four Brothers: Harold Berry, N. Wilkesboro, NC., Clifford Berry, Marion, North Carolina, Troy Berry and Mack Berry both of Elizabethton. Several Nieces & Nephews.

    Susie Jane Simerly Berry was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Jacob and Pearl Johnson Simerly. She was a homemaker. She was involved in the Ministry with her husband. She was a member of the Fairview Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a great grandson: Houston Murphy.

    Survivors include a daughter Reda Berry and her fiancé Callis, Kingsport. A Son & Daughter-in-law: Allen Wayne & Patricia Berry, Waynesboro, Pa.. 5 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren. One Brother: John Henry Simerly, Roan Mountain.

    Double Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Dexter Brummitt, Rev. Danny Osborne and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Marcy 17, 2011 in the Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery (Browns Branch Road, Hampton) with the Rev. Randy English and Rev. Charlie Trivett officiating. Music will be provided by the Sunrise Singers.

    UNICOI - Wanda Jay Brummett, age 79, Unicoi, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 22, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center.

    She was a Carter County native before moving to Unicoi County in 1954. Wanda is a daughter of the late Omar Simerly and Nettie Berry Cornett.

    She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Wanda loved her family dearly and she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Everyone that knew her, called her grandmother. Wanda enjoyed quilting and made quilts for her family. She was the best cook in the world and taught all her children to cook.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Brummett on July 20, 1998; step-father, Lawrence Cornett; one sister, Barbara Miller.

    Wanda leaves behind to cherish her memory, five sons: Billy Joe Brummett (Kathy), Shevlin, MN, Jeff Brummett (Reva), Jimmy Brummett (Shelly), Brian Brummett, all of Unicoi, Bobby Brummett (Constance), Knoxville; one daughter, Teresa Lane (Clifford Barnes), Erwin; one sister, Shirley Whitehead (Ed), Johnson City; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

    The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Dexter Brummett and Reverend Bernie Jones will officiate at the 7:00 P.M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Committal will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Cornett-Tolley Cemetery.

    Wanda married Bill Brummett on 14 Aug 1954 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee. Bill (son of Samuel N. Brummett and Nancy Tolley) was born on 8 Feb 1935 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; died on 20 Jul 1998 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Tolley Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.
